My trick is to pack them with clothes in rolling suitcases. Or distribute them throughout my boxes of lighter things. It can be annoying but moving books is very doable!

You articulated my feelings. When I see books by the apartment dumpster or on the curb - like even outdated textbooks - I wonder who tf throws out books? I can’t even think of a comparison. I don’t feel like it’s like VCR tapes where the new tech has made the old one difficult to accommodate, but I guess not everyone…
I’ve moved, took about 90% of my books with me. You don’t fill moving boxes to the brim with books, have one or two layers of books at the bottom and then fill the box with clothes, pillows, duvets, blankets, curtains, etc.
Booze boxes from the liquor store are excellent for books, because 1. they’re small and 2. can handle weight.
I really do not like reading on a screen! I love the feeling paper. But! I haven’t tried a kindle, where the screen isn’t an iPad, which is what I tried reading from.
Amen. They will have to carry me out of my shitbox apartment and pry my books from my cold dead hands.
If the image of someone getting rid of books makes you angry, you have clearlynever tried to pack up books for a move.
