While all of this has been going on, the DeltaWing still has a slower lap record around Road America than a D-Sports Racer.

That diffuser looks smaller than the road-car version, it’s weird. Also, that gap betwee diffuser and bodywork, what’s up with that?

Travis, bravo for a great article. Don’t pay attention to 90% of the comments on here, judging by their comments it’s clear they read the headline and maybe the first sentence, and definitely didn’t get to the last few paragraphs. Great article that’s supported well without going too technical, wish there was more

I posted tongue-in-cheek about fiberglass rusting, you’re the one who pulled out the dictionary in response.

Fiberglass is gel coat, glass fibers, and resin. Nothing metallic in it to corrode.

Learning about the history early history is

Funny thing bringing up CORR, considering that series folded in 2008.

Right, off-road started in the desert. True, though, that Short Course developed at Crandon in Wisconsin, though around the same time Mickey Thompson did do the same in Southern California, so it really developed in both places around the same time.

Um, what? Desert racing pretty much started in Baja California, Mexico back in the ‘60s, and Short Course off-road started in Wisconsin in the ‘70s (I think? Maybe late-’60s?”), and the Mickey Thompson Stadium Trucks, the spiritual father of the SST series, started in Los Angeles in the mid-’80s.

If you look at tracks used in the World RallyCross championship, many are more pavement-biased yet they use grooved tires.
