He looks like Jimmy Kimmel, if Jimmy Kimmel had Mike Tyson’s front teeth gap.

The Bowline can fall apart, that's why on the rock climbing world it's finished with a backup Half-Fisherman's knot so the free end can't untie the knot.

Only people in Illinois make Smart ForTwo drag cars.

Maybe if race cars weren't so aero-sensitive nowadays they wouldn't need Mickey-Mouse fixes?

I’ve only flown out of/to O’Hare once, and it wasn’t bad by any means. And in the couple dozen times I’ve connected through there I’ve only had one or two delays (all due to weather), I don’t have any bad experiences from ORD.

I disagree, it’s a pleasant airport to travel to/from, my family prefers flying through Midway for personal trips and has no issues with the facility.

I get scared driving the Can-Am mod for rFactor on my sim rig while sitting in my spare bedroom, to drive a Can-Am car in real life in such anger has to require balls of Unobtanium the size of bowling balls.

It's not uncommon, this is the fourth or fifth time in memory of flags being dropped on track.

So no ice cream then?

You do realize that MotoGP raced at Laguna Seca for a number of years, replacing it with COTA, right?

Don Prudhomme's quote from a couple years ago in Hot Rod about how even if the races were 60' teams would still manage to blow up engines sums up the equipment aspect, at this point the engine tunes are such that even with 320 less feet, the blow-ups are similar to when the full quarter was ran.

They changed it after Scott Kalitta's accident at Englishtown in 2008.

Why? They're running just about the same speeds now as they used to in the quarter. Plus, I'm sure not a single driver would complain about having an additional 320' to use in case something goes wrong.

NHRA pro-level classes run 1000' Stef. Haven't ran the full 1320 since mid-2008.

You have not followed robot combat in the last forever then, RoboGames and the ComBots Cup have both had tournaments for many years. Take this fine example from the last RoboGames in 2013.

Um, those aren't miniature jumps, those are built for BMX bikes / dirt jumping mountain bikes, look to be ~5-foot tall on average.

Called it.

Too much bureaucracy to make it happen, especially in a month's time. I'm mostly wondering if COTA could get the over-$1 million sanctioning fee to hold such a race in such a short amount of time. Yes, tracks do have to pay IRL to host their races.
