I also am half black. My Dad was a cop before we moved to a town in Nebraska, and was known by the police in my town as someone you shouldn’t screw with, because he knew the law better than they did. I have never once been resistant or disrespectful to police.

As several others have said, you really need to figure out the kind of switches you want. It’s more important, in my opinion, than literally anything else about the keyboard. A little daunting at first, but you can get tester keys.
