9 p.m. is the fulcrum point, a time that is neither early nor late. It’s crawl-in-bed and play-on-phone time for me. Now 10 p.m., that’s the true early/late time, at least for me. My roomie is usually in bed and asleep by 8 p.m., so 9 p.m. is late for her. 

Most of the time it’s neither. It’s the glass half-full/empty of times, especially in the Central time zone. It’s not too late to start and finish a movie on a work night and still get a good night’s sleep. You can watch a good chunk of a west coast baseball game and not feel bad.
