Eh, I’d be more than happy if shows just continued on ignoring corona. I watch TV to escape my looming existential dread, thank you. After everyone from insurance companies to car dealerships started coming out with those maudlin “we’re all in this together” commercials a couple of months ago I was about ready to tear

My money’s still on post office. It’d piss off the right, with their current hard-on for killing USPS. Because, yeah, barely cops. They just need some civil servant gig with a certain amount of intrigue and paper work.

In Defense of Aprons

My mother is the reason I feel so strongly about aprons, mostly because I have no real memory of her cooking

The spin on this story is heavy-handed and confusing (at best).

To Kimmel, his straightness, and his history of speaking as a gleeful misogynist, actually makes him more of an authority on something like gay rights because he’s speaking from a place of straight “objectivity” instead of the real, lived experience of a gay person.

That’s a fair assessment. Personally, every white guy I encounter is an ignorant Man Show frat boy until proven otherwise.

The reason why I feel strongly about the topic is that I believe that our most effective tool against racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc is education.

Jimmy Kimmel is a perfect example. L

I still say there’s a non-zero chance that they all walk into the office as postal service, or FDNY arson, civil servants in the first episode and act like nothing’s changed...

That episode was especially bad. And it made Jake look like an even bigger idiot than usual for not having even a basic understanding of the concept of sexism. “So you’re telling me that some people hate women and society has been putting up barriers to their success for generations? How did I never know about this

Smart

I understand the impulse and why they feel they need to do this, but I don’t know if B99 is the show to tackle these subjects. The show is so wacky and unrealistic most of the time that when it starts getting serious about real world problems it often comes off as awkward and stilted. They play like Very Special

Not to slag your husband, but his opinions are bad on this and he should feel bad.  Also I also used to hate boy short styles, especially since I in no way have a boy bod. Like you, a pair of Target boy short bikini bottoms I love! Mine are brown with a turquoise sash, top is a regular brown bikini top with the center

“My husband has the absurd idea that any one-piece is a “granny” swimsuit, any two-piece that is not a bikini is lying about being a granny swimsuit...”

I love that suit and 10/10 would wear if bandeau tops weren’t the devil, but yes that is 100% high cut thigh shit.

As somebody who is really, really, really doesn’t like having messy hands/fingers; my interest is piqued.

It was a shame to do that, because her character was ridiculous and funny and didn’t need a wild side plot of any kind.  It came across as a shock value choice and kind of lazy.

I would be curious to know who wrote and produced those jokes and scenes. I used to have a similar belief — black face, slurs, etc, were ok if used in a comedic way intended to skewer ignorant views and punch up.

I understand that this is a Covid related post, and don’t wish to be a gatecrashing contrarian, but if you have the means, you should consider staying in a purpose-built/properly zoned rental accommodation such as a hotel or B&B

AirBnb is a major driver of housing problems in many cities and takes significant portions

The butt of the jokes were those in blackface and the writers were punching up not punching down. Are there better ways to make fun of the oblivious whiteness of the Jenna Maroney’s of the world, maybe. But the face swap episode was actually about making two idiots understand intersectionality.

Here for the himbo love!
