I'm an atheist and it's something that I mostly keep to myself because I understand that I live in an overwhelmingly Christian nation that tends to be suspicious of people like me.
For all the talk of smug outspoken atheists, I have to believe there is also a significant silent faction who are like me, who have to

Ugly Americans
Hey, Ugly Americans remains pretty entertaining and works well as a followup to Futurama. Seems like a show that AV Club should be covering.

Awful trailer
The movie doesn't look bad. I like Soderbergh, but I wish that trailer hadn't given away as much as it did. I don't even care much about the reveal of Paltrow's death, but there is so much given away there. This seems like the type of movie that could have been sold on the strength of it's images

oh man, action park was a rite of passage. There always seemed to be some emergency when I went there as a kid. I recall many paramedics.

Leaving after an allotted amount of time and getting a refund is entirely reasonable as you are not getting the entire experience you paid for. Theaters should generally be clear on these rules.
Also it's not very fair to fault people for not being informed viewers. I was annoyed at the number of people that walked

theater experience
Some horror movies are great at the theater, if the audience is with the film. I actually remember watching this particular scene in a theater and having a similar reaction with the audience. This also happened with The Ring when the chick is coming out of the television screen - I don't think I've

I really liked the reveal of the killer, or at least the idea behind who the killer is in Scream 4, but it would've been soooo much better if they had just cut that last 10 minutes at the hospital and SPOILER let the killer have gotten away with it.

Oh no!
Not another boring space launch. Change the channel. Change the channel!

no, I _was_ thinking of Moneypenny. Lois Maxwell was really getting on in the years by the time they replaced her.

hot young black woman vs dowdy old white lady is a pretty different direction

who would you cast?
I'm having a hard time thinking of an actor who could play him.

Nah, that's a pretty good episode.

Great Divide is worth it for the cool animation when the two tribes are telling their versions of the story. It's certainly the worst episode, but it's not that bad.

Katara is a pretty impressive bender. She's really innovative with her techniques and I'd say she becomes a much better waterbender than Aang as the series progresses, just as Toph is a better earthbender.

I'm with the OP and Emma Sands. Affleck is mostly a perfectly adequate actor, and sometimes he's capable of being more than that, as when he played George Reeves in Hollywoodland. Moreover Gone Baby Gone was pretty good and The Town was flawed but entertaining.
The tone of this newswire strikes me as unnecessarily

Yeah, New Cult Canon. Just read the article. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
It sucks that most of the comments are people either looking forward to stuff coming up in the series or suggesting movies for Tobias to write about.

Miami Blues
Speaking of movies no one talks about, I appreciate your shoutout to the supremely underrated Miami Blues. I only saw that film for the first time recently having never even heard of it before and was blown away. It's one of the best things Alec Baldwin has ever done. It's really too bad the film didn't

Season 4
My opinion of season 4 has gone up considerably this rewatch. I'd previously considered it the weakest season, notable mostly for Ralphie's death and the dissolution of Tony and Carmela's marriage. But this season has quite a lot of excellent episodes where "nothing happens." Eloise, The Strong Silent Type,

Carmela is starved for the romantic attention that she doesn't generally get from Tony, so she falls for other men really easily. Tony is able to placate her with all the things he buys her, but it's hard to think of moments where he does something for Carmela based out of pure love.

"constantly opining about all sorts of subjects, movie-related or not."
