You didn’t misunderstand my idea. I think I just misunderstood the point of your original post (because you didn’t specify why you had a problem with the rest of the anime).

I don’t really think my response warranted that long of an explanation (and worse off it in no way dealt with the idea I put forth), but to each their own.

To be fair, you didn’t mention the “so many anime at all” part.

Considering the sheer amount of anime available has grown exponentially over the last decade, there’s no way the amount of anime that aren’t in those settings hasn’t risen as well. They may not be the majority, but there’s still more than when you started…

I’ve heard arguments for and against this belief, but no actual info to back it up other than assumptions and educated guesses. It’s not about you personally taking the responsibility but rather the video game industry, which at this point has avoided attaching gambling systems to real world currency. (Nor is it about those people who have trouble controlling themselves taking total responsibility, because addiction doesn’t work that way.)
