We are a family of 4 and have a Subaru Outback. The AWD is a great because we live on a hill. It’s great for around town and road trips with just us. We can wedge a third kid in with a Bubblebum. For as often as we need more capacity, we just rent a minivan. We’ve rented to bring a couple extra people with us on

I adore the roasted garlic base.

They were Austrian, not German. The elder von Trapp left to avoid joining the Nazis.

So I think some of the things that are happening in the drills are taking it too far. But look, when is the last time a school burned down? It’s pretty rare, but we still have fire drills. I’m hearing from friends that there was an active shooter threat yesterday at SUNY Onteonta yesterday, and the overwhelming

As my great grandmother used to say, (envision wizzened 103 year old woman shaking her head) “The things the people do to get the people’s money!”

I'm surprised she didn't suggest that he could have avoided this by not manifesting that blockage in the first place.

I’ll go a step further. Practice walking. Practice standing. Plan some days in the weeks and months ahead where you walk around a local fair. Stand sometimes while you watch TV. A lot of the times it’s not just the shoes, it’s that your body isn’t used to that kind of activity.even if you are fit. A day on your feet

I hate dry shampoo. There. I said it. My hair length ranges from Chin to collar bone and it never feels worth it.

The adults in the family use liquid, but we’ve started to get the kids involved in doing their own laundry, so I got some pods for them to use. As they are both under 10, and liquid heavy,  it eliminates the possibility of spills

I can't believe anyone would bring back that creepy little paperclip on purpose.

When you loose the Roku remote, you can always fall back on the phone app.

I get 21 days of PTO and can carry that many from year to year, anything more rolls over to a reserve sick bank that can be used in case of short term disability. One year 3 days went in the bank when I was on a particularly intense lang term project. Since then I make a point of doing better. I do carry 2-3 weeks

So a couple more things, if they are not getting enough time to eat an amount of food that will last all afternoon, switch things around so that they have more calorie dense foods, or know to eat those first. They need to eat their veggies, but sadly, you have to eat a lot of them to make you feel full. Maybe veggies

Seriously. They did something about the false vaccine information but it’s still awash in other false info. The diet promos are the worst.

There is an older woman in my neighborhood that dispenses shots of peach liqueur in little paper cups to parents on Halloween while her husband mans the candy bowl for the kids. This is the only way I drink it.

If you have a lot of time on your hands, that’s a fine strategy. My time is in short supply. I’d rather have $20-30 of surplus stuff that I’ll use eventually, rather than spend my time inventorying batteries and travel toiletries.

If you read the comments that mention gap year, you’ll gain some insight. But the gist is that a lot of kids lead really sheltered lifes. They’ve never had jobs, never had to work for money, they aren’t very mature, they expect everything to revolve around them. Higher education has become way too expensive for most

Yep. When you get to the point of progressives or bifocals, computer glasses can be really good. I pay a bit more for the better vision insurance so I can get a new pair of glasses every year. I alternate new progressives and new computer glasses.

Yep, I use them to store wool yarn and wool garments (one of several layers of moth protection. Eventually, they wear out, but they get a lot of reuse.

We do a lot of this. I learned this from a friend with kids older than mine — one of hers has celiac. They have to do a lot of cook separately and combine meals. Last night we had pasta. DH and I had pesto, my eldest had marinara and my youngest only eats pasta with butter. Another favorite is to saute chicken, remove
