I recall that Missy asserted that he actually DID call himself Doctor Who, but decided to get rid of the “Who” part because it was a bit silly or somesuch. Of course, Missy lies even more than the Doctor I’d think....

Well, like I said, it was essentially completely absent in the New52 version until the Supermen got merged. A lot of the post-merge bonding moments seem to revolve around their kids being friends.

I think it’s more likely that both characters were inspired from the same source material.

I... would have to disagree with you there. That’s been a recurring idea that’s been worked into their relationship well into the modern age, and only really disappeared when the New52 reboot happened. The more modern version tends to have less of the handshaking “old chum” sort of vibe and more of a cynical “I think

That would be because they’re basically all made in Canada with Canadian actors. As I understand it, Canada has laws about requiring a certain amount of Canadian-made programming on their TV, and as such there are a lot of joint Canadian/US TV projects.

It’s not so confusing. Just treat him as pre-Flashpoint Superman with the minimum necessary patches to his history to keep the story intact. New52 Superman basically never happened now.

You’re thinking of the PlayChoice-10, which had the actual home-version NES games in it, and you fed it quarters for play time. I remember playing Metroid on it. Not a great game to play in 5 minute bursts....

I am constantly subjected to the Hallmark Channel due to others in my household addicted to it, and I think it is much more accurate to say that they assume black people and Asians simply do not exist.

You could point to a lot of things, but ultimately it happened in a super-comic-booky way. Essentially the New52 Superman and the pre-Flashpoint Superman merged into a single new “rebirth” Superman who has a hybrid history encompassing both of them (though mostly the pre-Flashpoint version’s). That had a ripple effect

Those are, for the most part, not very equivalent. The Buffy bit, maybe. On the other hand, the Buffy gang refer back to their past traumas a LOT. I mean, seriously, a lot. They just have so many that any one specific one doesn’t get brought up much more often than anything else.

To control the spray of course.

Yeah, but this is the MCU, not the comics. This stuff doesn’t happen every other week. The Battle of New York (AKA “The Incident”) was like 9/11 and Pearl Harbor all mixed together and more, and people sure have forgotten both of those, huh?

I remember reading back in the day that JL was animated full screen, but the action was framed to be cropped for widescreen release. As such, it could be cropped and lose nothing important. I hope Teen Titans was done the same way. I get angry when I see a show that I know filmed for 4:3 cropped down to 16:9.

I would argue that “trickle down” is the easy self-delusion that gives them permission not to even feel guilty about not caring. Most humans, even the nasty ones, will feel a twinge of guilt now and then about harming others... unless they can give themselves an out. “It will trickle down.” “It’s for their own good.”

I tried to like America. I wanted to like it. But I couldn’t. It tried SO HARD to be All The Things. It was too much. It pushed past good solid diversity and into weird and awkward pandering. That was my evaluation anyway. I gave it 3 issues and gave up.

I saw her and thought... I dunno, maybe Traci Thirteen? It’s a pretty out there take for Zatana, though I see the through-line of it. I suppose it works if you make it part of her stage magic act

Oh, that’s true. I didn’t catch that. And Hawk’s eyes ARE white, so it’s not like that isn’t a thing.

Mm. Like or dislike, both of their looks are pretty faithful to the source material. Heavier looking materials, but otherwise solid interpretations.

Not just sorry, but emotionally wrecked by it. Said a lot of things about her.

Despite her affinity otherwise for constrictive... things.
