Truth. All of the men who have abused me were people I knew. Family, friends etc. These same men also don’t think they did anything wrong.

I don’t trust men to check men. I trust me to be loud and belligerent if I’m approached or get rapey vibes. My finger has pressed the 9 and the 1, the next move better be his/a right move.

When it comes to talking about sexual assault, I’ve noticed that men (in some cases, I’ve heard some things from fellow women), hold onto this notion that rapists are strangers in baklavas and holding knives. But, when I mention that all of my rapists were men that I grew up with, they consider me to be the exception.

After reading your comment, I went back up to look at his forehead and damn. I’ve gotten this far by never looking at him wholly, if you will. Like I had an idea of what his face may look like, but have been successful at avoiding looking at his face in its entirety ... until today. Thank you.

I let the water come to a boil, dump the grains in, and then ignore the pot for a few minutes. I’m not sure that’s what does it, but that’s the way I make them, and they come out with lumps every time :)

Cream of Wheat cooked fifteen minutes with stirring (Or not if you love those lumps) with cream, butter and sugar, white or brown or honey is heaven on earth.

Grits, like many grains and starches, are actually just a cheese and butter delivery vector. Lots of cracked pepper is also good. Save the sugar for dessert.
