Nice article. My father-in-law and I just put up a 24 x 12 foot deck on my house on Sunday. We went with pressure treated wood. I prefer the feel of wood and don’t mind the upkeep.
From the PVC decks I’ve seen I’d say both. The sound of just walking on them is distinct from wood.
From a distance a PVC deck may look like wood but when you stand on it there is no mistaking it’s plastic.
Pro-tip: Actually listen to people.
People love to get their word in edgewise, but charisma is all about how you act, not what you have to say. You can…
What would be super helpful would be links to to either IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes for a particular movie but I guess they could never come to some agreed on terms for those sites.
I severely hate this “Hover over” aproach to design. Most cases, it greatly reduces usability in favor of unnecessary economy.
First you have to hover over Daredevil, then you have to click “More Info” but the link is too close to the next hit box for the next movie, all of a sudden I’m watching some other film.
...AND I just realized the average mental age of our readership is about 15.
Exactly. What I’m getting at is there wouldn’t be any obvious reason to vet her racial background. There’s nothing precluding a white person from heading an NAACP chapter, so why lie? And if there’s no reason to lie, why investigate her race? I mean, obviously, they have reason to look in the future, but it would have…
I grew up in Redmond/Kirkland so I’m somewhat familiar with Spokane.
The problem is not that she’s a white person leading an NAACP chapter. The problem is that she’s a white person who seemingly lied about being black and then headed an NAACP chapter.
They just need to shut the whole thing down. Shut it down. This is too crazy to be real. But it’s real.
White people can and have (in the distant past) head the NAACP. It would be discriminatory to base the position on her skin color.
The only counter I have is that clearly homegirl was on the scene before she became the NAACP president. You’re right, that’s a supper awkward question in this situation but it seems like these people had been raising their eyebrows for quite some time without saying anything.
Would YOU wanna be the person who questioned the racial credentials of the new president of your NAACP chapter? How bad would you look if you were wrong? I think there was plenty of talk but no one wanted to be that person who asked her if she was really black.
I live in this area and, yes, there are very few black people here (although Spokane certainly has more than Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where this woman used to work). You described this perfectly. It's offensive and hilarious.
Son of a plumber from east Austin, Texas, baby! Stardust! The tower of power, too sweet to be sour.
He was just so.....wrestling. Goodbye Dream.
This is a rule of thumb in Hollywood, but can lead to dead-ends because often the answer is, “no one.”
