The Mustang was spied later in the pits collecting its sacrifice.

A nice big, wide, fast road was built all the way around ‘that shithole’. Please use it and you’ll never have to see Austin again. We’d prefer it that way.

Land Rover dealers used to all have little offroad sections where they could show off the capabilities of their vehicles and give customers a chance to see what was possible with them. I’m guessing they don’t use them so much any more with the Evoque becoming so popular.

As a Mk6 Golf R owner I’m right there with you. I knew it was a dream but I was legitimately thinking of buying an R400 if they came to the States. Seeing as my R just left warranty I guess I’ll just dump the money into upgrading it instead.

Correct.

While I was making sure I wasn't lying about the current pedestrian safety uses for it I saw the patent they filed in 1977 for the mechanism to prevent theft. The current one is just a modernized version of that. So they've had it since at least around then.

It’s definitely designed to retract in an accident for pedestrian safety. Bentley even had a recall on theirs a few years ago due to the mechanism possibly corroding and not retracting during a hit.

‘Pedestrian safety’ has pretty much insured that they’ll never come back. Rolls Royce gets away with it because they have a very expensive, duh, mechanism to retract it in case of impact. Don’t want to damage your costly hood ornament while mowing down the poor people with your shiny Phantom.

I read the pills and ‘free’ as “drug free”. Meaning he’s not taking pain meds any longer. I guess either works. I know if I was in the wreck I’d be taking pain meds for eternity.

These are the same people that call small computers ‘labtops’.

Yep, it’s a fiberglass tonneau. There are backseats underneath. The downside is there’s no way to store the tonneau on/in the car so you need to take it off and leave it at home if you want to use the back seat.

I’ve owned a convertible of some sort for over 25 years. I love cruising back roads and taking in the sights, sounds, and even smells around me.

I am aware of the fountain at 15. It was pumping out hot water last time I tried using it. Two faucets for the entire Turns 15-19 complex seems a bit under provisioned. The big tanks for refilling up at Turn 1 were in the 95 degree sun and also pumping out hot water last September. So refreshing.

I lied. They allow a single sealed water bottle, iirc. Maybe two. That’ll totally be enough for a 100 degree day in the sun. I’m sure they are quite refreshing when they’ve gotten to ambient temperature later in the day.

You are correct, I apologize. One bottle. That’ll hold me over just fine for 10 hours in the Texas sun.

Some day I’ll get Down Under to see the V8s race on their home turf. Even though the weather sucked they were the nicest bunch of racers ever. Betty Klimenko gave me one of her Erebus shirts after I expressed dismay at none being for sale that weekend. It’s now a prized possession like the rear bumper off one of her

It was even worse down at track level. One of our driver's water bottles wasn't feeding and we were about to bring him in when it started working.

It was pretty miserable on pit row. They were running up and down hitting all the teams. I assumed it was CotA being nice. Sitting there watching LMP cars whiz by just feet away while eating ice cream was a life highlight.

Yeah, I was out there for LeMans and saw that. 80-90F water doesn’t help a whole lot but was better than nothing. I was lucky. In the pits we had unlimited ice water, gatorade, sodas, and an angel driving around with a pit cart filled with ice cream. God bless that woman.

They said early next week. It docks with the ISS first on Saturday to offload supplies.
