They are aging pretty well. I used to prefer the Flair Birds(64-66, think Thelma and Louise) but after looking around I found the Bullets just had better lines. Once you get them dropped a bit it really accentuates their long flowing lines.

And from the outside:

My ‘61 Thunderbird. Drop the top, pick up your girl, throw lunch in the backseat, and head out on to some empty country roads. It’s not fast, it handles like crap, and stopping is only a suggestion but I wouldn’t trade the feeling for anything.

I _want_ to hate it but I can’t.

Say the word and we’ll take it for a cruise out 1431 or down 6th on a Friday night or something. I’ll even let you drive. The weather is perfect for driving convertibles in Austin right now. Well, except for the occasional hurricanes.

I should do a quick writeup. The day was, as it almost always is when driving a 50+ year old car, an adventure.

I was so disappointed to see Ericsson retire. I had the honor of chauffeuring him during the Drivers Parade. He was awesome to chat with during the slow lap.

This was actually suggested for Turn 1 hill last year but the organizers couldn’t get permission to do it due to water restrictions from the drought. I think there’s enough water now.

I’ve always wondered why they went with a low-wing for the P-3. You’d think since they spend most of their time over water looking down that a high-wing, like the C-130, would be a better choice. I’m sure there’s a very good reason for it, I just don’t know what it is.

The teal Isuzu Amigos of the early 90s. That color just screams 1991. I knew that color would age badly when I saw it on the lots.

I had a 5-speed blue one and loved it to death and drove it for 12 years. Kinda wish I still had it.

Dang, finish brake job on the car for the parade Sunday or come hang out? Maybe I could bring the car to the bar and get help from the everyone. :)

I’ll be parked in the car corral before the race with my ‘61 Thunderbird. Come on by and say ‘hi’. Make it an unofficial meeting spot.
I’ll found out today who I’m ferrying in the parade before the race. Maybe it’ll be Rossi. :)

Not my Continental.

Don’t clobber me all at once but I have a few PS4 codes. Let me know your region and we’ll do first come, first served. I’ve got 3 per region. Hit me up on Twitter at this nick and I’ll DM you a code.

I’m lucky in that I can afford to keep around more than one car. The one I have an unhealthy love of though is my 1991 Range Rover. I’ve dropped stupid amounts of money into it to keep it running. The latest big one was a new 4.2l engine after the old one cracked the block due to ice in the cooling system. The truck

For offroading an automatic is usually the preferred transmission. Look at every big rock crawling buggy out there. Automatic transmission. The torque converter helps add a bit of gear multiplication for crawling and is one less thing to worry about in tough terrain.

I’ve owned a manual transmission Defender 90 and

A Defender 90.

How long until someone straps an R2 unit to the roof and starts driving around with the doors open?

This is beautiful.

I just spent 15 minutes trying to find a picture I took of a buffet at a company party. Sadly I came up empty.
