Oh my God, I did not need to see that ending.

The conversation between Nikki and Varga was one of the best things all season. I think it was the sheer satisfaction of someone finally calling Varga on his crap and making him talk in a slightly more straightforward way.

Michelle Gomez lit up the screen again. So there's that.

For me, Varga is tipping from a threatening character to a caricature of one. Whenever David Thewlis is on screen I feel like I'm watching a re-run of Season 1 with an actor who, whatever his merits elsewhere, is slightly less suited to the part than Billy Bob Thornton.

Things I loved in this episode:

Hmm.

Why? Because it was preceded by showing that the Doctor was receiving an email. That's how it was PRESENTED to us. I didn't make up the idea of it being a video recording. The show did.

Transition from what to what? This is my point: try and come up with an explanation for why those effects were applied there, but not elsewhere, that doesn't end up feeling inconsistent with the premise that one Doctor e-mailed a recording to the other.

Then what was the download before the credits and the flashes of static just after them all about?

Sorry folks, I can see plenty of people loved this, but for me it fell flat.

Overstuffed? I thought this was a far tighter, more focused piece than the previous week (which got the same score on AV Club).

For me this was the weakest episode of the season so far. Not that it was terrible by any means, but I didn't feel it was trying to do anything beyond "let's have a haunted house". You praise it for not deconstructing the genre, but then what's the point of having the Doctor in a genre story if that has no impact?

I really didn't find any of it funny. The whole Cam and Mitchell segment was just too silly rather than witty. And I didn't find the segments "tightly written", in fact drawing out each scene to that length meant there was a lack of punch or beats.

It's exactly what he's doing. For the first 3 episodes of Season 3, he's been repeatedly minimising things. He's not a dealer, he's just a cook. The plane crash wasn't THAT bad compared to Tenerife. He's presented a bag of money so everything is just fine and dandy and it's time for a pot roast.

What's insane is that you missed the entire point that you CAN'T do this.

Hmm. One of the weakest episodes of the season. The crowd scenes were very hokey and… I guess that Dahrk's magic was nullified by Olive having the support/hope of the city? Which makes it even more hokey.

Best moment of the episode: Felicity's irritation that a woman who has news must be pregnant.

I didn't laugh one bit. Of all the things to decide to carry forward to the new season, Mr Huffle would have to be the most pointless and awkward.

You know, I'm back here rereading the thread. You asked for evidence about who hailed episodes of this show as great, and every single time someone gave you citations or sources, you shot them down as not good enough.

Finally, Season 3 won me back.
