Because the body in nickel plated magnesium sheet. It's a remake of a Bugatti Type 57S Competition 'Elektron Torpedo'. This car was custom built for the owner, because the original was scrapped before the war, and someone thought one should exist. It's a pain to work on and keep clean.

A Ferrari Testarossa race-car Matchbox toy. That just about did it.

I feel sympathy for you. For me it's my mom saying to people 'my son works on old racecars' and people start talking to me about which Hybrid they should buy or how their mechanic is too expensive. At which point its time to take out the phone and gasp and say I need to go in to work or my friend's dog is on fire or

Ok, sorry but I can't hold this one back. Last friday I parked an 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B (~$10M) and a 1964 Ferrari 250 SWB (~$5M), in the past I've parked a host of vintage Formula 1 Cars, Ferrari's, pre-war Bugatti's, Turcat-Mery's and all sorts of weird old stuff. I should add up the total value some time... I

I literally don't even know where to start. I work in a restoration shop. Enough said.

This seems like Honda's eerily amazing way of announcing the return of their engines to Formula 1... I'm already rooting.

Well said. But hey, at least I'm setting my aspirations high. And cool seems to be a relative thing anyway.

Speak for yourself.

I'm feeling partial to pink...

They're just not old enough (sorry). This is missing out on the golden age of F1 cars...

As the 'kid' in the shop I get nothing but heckling if I show enthusiasm about anything from Maranello. I work in a restoration shop that does mostly vintage race cars, and despite working on a lot of old Ferrari's... there's nothing but contempt for them from the people I work with. Sometimes with good reason. But

Since I was 6 years old... Just can't help myself. Where I work I would never hear the end of it if they were to find out.

I live in a garage story. I got a job just about a year ago at the place I had fantasized about working since being a little kid, at a restoration shop specializing in vintage race cars... It's been something of a dream come true. I still can't quite believe what I get to work on and around. You would call me a liar

The Michelin Man was popped shorty after this picture was taken for pushing by the rear wing.

This was the most difficult thing I've ever driven...
