If you use a steam controller you can change any button to to just about anything, and now those configurations follow the controller to other machines using steam. The touchpad type parts take a little getting used to, but can be a lot more accurate than thumbsticks and are a nice compromise for those used to using

Setting one up and maintaining it takes more effort (and usually costs more) than just buying a console and plugging it into your TV though, which is why many gamers stick to the console option.

I used to be a mouse/keyboard kind of person. I did end up getting the xbox one controller and have never looked back. Even FPS games are better for me. You eventually learn to aim really quickly. And you can play it at your desk/tv anywhere in comfort.

I would point out that budget gaming is more than achievable at this point, especially if you have a desktop already. You can put together a decent PC for about 300 that can match a PS4, and save even more money if you just put a 200 dollar graphics card in an existing computer. Set Steam Big Picture to open on

The whole cost roadblock attached to PC gaming is largely exaggerated. Even a first-timer can scavenge up an old psu, decent hdd and an atx case to greatly reduce the cost. Also, a mid-range card like the very capable 1060gtx or 1070 can do much of everything a 1080 can and will still eclipse a ps4 or xbox one. As
