I came here for this. Not disappointed. :)

My post disappeared, so I’m writing another one.

No. Just because some people think of atheism as that doesn’t make it what atheism is. And they are not even close. One implies that an attitude of as certain as we can be the other that there is up to a 49.999999999999% chance. There is a much better chance of aliens landing on the white house lawn tomorrow then

How about we go with almost certainly doesn’t exist. That’s much more accurate. That would be atheism.

Well, practically, it is. 0.000000000000000000000000000000001 percent chance is in effectively 0. And the chances of there being an all powerful being controlling everything in the universe is even less likely than that. So, in practice, there is no god. Prove it otherwise. Until then, we go with no god exists.

Prove it exists before making assumptions to its motivation.

No one is saying certainty except you. The null is that there is no god. Prove it wrong. If you can’t, and no one has been able to, then we go with that.

There can be no evidence to prove a negative. But in the absence of any evidence and all research turns up negative the default is the null hypothesis. In this case the null hypothesis is there is no god. So it is logical to default to that until evidence comes along. Again this isn’t agnosticism, this is atheism.

But the null hypothesis is that they don’t, because of aerodynamics, and lack of evidence. Even the hypothesis that they might exist is pretty laughable. So going with the fact that they don’t isn’t a religion, but just logic. Atheists don’t exclude the possibility that someone might come up with proof, just that

See, you are taking the stance that atheism is on equal footing with religion and that’s just not true. Just like people who think evolutionists and creationists should have a debate. No, they shouldn’t because they aren’t equal. Atheism can never prove that there is no god, but the complete lack of evidence makes

Again, atheists take the logical stand that there is no god until you can prove there is one. That’s logic. There is no evidence of it’s existence, so until then, there is no god.

Let me put it this way. Do you believe in flying pink polkadot elephants? If you don’t then you are an atheist in regards to those because you know those don’t exist. If someone showed you one you would change your mind, but until then you are going with the fact that they don’t exist.

No it isn’t. That’s atheism. No god until you can prove otherwise.

No, atheism is common sense. When faced with an extraordinary claim like that of the existence of a all powerful being, one needs extraordinary proof. In the absence of that proof, the null hypothesis of there being no god takes precedence. Basically atheists take the default position. No god until you can prove

No, atheism is saying that you shouldn’t believe in anything without proof. Doing so is foolish. That’s it. Agnosticism is a half measure that denies the simple fact that you can’t prove a negative. There will never be proof that god doesn’t exist. There will only ever be lack of proof that it does. Also, religion

Exactly. Atheism isn’t a religion just like bald isn’t a hair color. Atheists don’t believe in something until there is proof. Since there is no proof god, they continue with the default position of not believing in it. Just like you are probably an atheist when it comes to a flying spaghetti monster. There is no

No, there is verifiable proof of their existence, as opposed to god, which has no verifiable proof of it’s existence.

No, it isn’t. It is the absence of belief in the absence of proof. Religion is belief in the absence of proof. One is logical, the other is fucking insanity.

Probably many things, but really, you can buy a dot for $40 and put one in every room. And you don’t have to have a computer running, or worse yet, a computer running windows 10.
