No, it took me 10 seconds of searching to find that comment. It was made easier by the fact that he's not a very prolific commenter.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Mdan. I just think a world with a little less racism in it is worth striving for.

I get where you're coming from, and I think it's absurd to argue that someone of Indian descent who was born in Britain isn't British. But this discussion is about ethnic definitions of "Jap" and Japanese, not civic definitions.

You're obviously not Japanese. Or, for that matter, bothered by outward expressions of racism. However, this kind of stuff does bother me. Especially on a website like this - one of the few websites out there whose comment section isn't approaching Breitbart levels of awfulness.

I'm glad you're not defending his right to do that because, really, that was my main point in bringing all this up. My decision to throw a 2 year old comment back in his face was all about pointing out how wrong it is to lie about one's own identity in order to justify flinging around racial slurs.

That's missing the point, Smilner. The term "Jap" (as I pointed out above and a few people pointed out below) isn't rooted in citizenship, it's rooted in race/ethnicity. He can self-identify as Japanese all he wants, but he acknowledges several times in his comment history that he's a "black man," which makes his use

I think the argument's pretty clear. I pointed out that he had a racist username and then he claimed that he was Japanese to justify it. I checked out his user history and found that comment in about 10 seconds. If you think that's gross, then there's probably not much I can say to change your mind. I just happen to

I think you're confused about what's going on here. I wasn't criticizing him for a comment he made 2 years ago. I was criticizing him for his racist username, and then lying about his race/ethnicity in order to justify his racist username.

The slur "Jap" isn't used against non-Japanese people who live in Japan or have citizenship there. It's used against ethnic Japanese people.

He's not. Check his comment history.

You're lying.

Says the guy with a racial slur in his username! Good stuff, champ!

I LOVE YOU TOO, BUN MAN!
