I think that Places is more or less designed to be yet another information leecher... Another way of coaxing you to provide advertisers yet more information about yourself. I don't see any real benefit for users.

What you guys fail to realize is that, well, the manufactures are failing to realize how good and big Android in itself can/will be and mostly is.
