I’m just waiting for the outrage over the deaths of millions of Americans from gun violence, police and opioids funded by the same government who feigns concern about some guy killing his own people in another country.

Still waiting for a white person to explain to me how blowing up some goat farmer holding an AK in the Afghan mountains, defends my Constitutional Rights, that are always being threatened at home by said white people who start wars on the other side of the world.

Ten Things I Hate About You was fairly well received by critics. Not sure about the box office but it was enough of a hit to have a tv series.

Maybe it’s just the “only 90s kids will remember” circles that I tend to run in, or the fact that I force the uninitiated to watch my copy of it, but 10 Things I Hate About You has never felt underrated to me.

It’s interesting that reviews hated all the branding, because they didn’t actually get paid for any of it. The brands didn’t like the anti-consumerism message.

This was the film I showed at Backyard Movie Night two years ago. I was kind of shocked how many of the moms in the neighborhood hadn’t seen it. I just always assume this movie is secretly beloved by millions and millions of people in their 30s and 40s. Well, I’m doing my part to spread the gospel.

But but but I was told that there was absolutely no difference between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump and that’s why so many “special” people didn’t vote or voted 3rd party! Susan Sarandon told me so! Would a privileged white millionaire post menopausal celebrity steer me wrong?

I grew up white in the deep south in the 80s and 90s and the N word was used commonly in some white households I encountered. I feel like, if you’re a sheltered white kid in your single digits, THEN you get a big mulligan after a very stern talking-to. But teenagers absolutely goddamn know better.

I knew the N word was bad from practically the cradle. I’m not saying I knew why when I was five years old or understood the history of racism, but I was old enough to grasp “that’s a mean thing to say. It hurts people’s feelings and makes you look awful.”

Seriously. I’m so tired of this “woe is me” bullshit from celebrities. 

Weird, because I’m 10 years older than she is, and I knew as a teen not to use those words, much less post them online.

This captured my feelings exactly. Calling someone “my n***a” and saying the n-word while quoting rap lyrics is being a dumb teenager who doesn’t know better.

I want to stay away from anything that makes me think I can’t live my life the way everybody else does.
