Except that episode was completely driven by dialogue and was a bottle episode. Fish out of Water has no dialogue and is set in an entirely new environment.
Good pick. Most will go with 4 or 11 (and I might as well), but 9 was brilliant in my eyes. I'd say it's my third favorite of the season.
Escape from LA was so epic that I erroneously remembered it being a two-parter. It's an amazing episode. Fish out of Water is right there with it.
I came in with high expectations and the episode surpassed them.
If you have any reservations about this episode, just focus on the sound editing. The gentle, psychedelic soundtrack, the burbling non-dialogue, the muted thumps where more visceral effects would usually go…it's so trippy and claustrophobic, especially with headphones. I watched it on my laptop while wearing…
Nah, Brrap Brrap Pew Pew is easily my least favorite of the season and not remotely because its subject matter offends me. But that's for another comment section.
Inconsequential it ain't.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the AV Club community's rating distribution won't apply to most people. Most reviews so far are decent-to-meh.
Look at all those bitter Cleganebowl F's from the AV Club community. What is hype may never die, my friends.
In case it seems like I'm pulling that number out of my ass: http://m.huffpost.com/us/en…
Nope. It's not gaining an audience. But you know what it does offer? 2-2.5 million viewers a night, without fail. For Fox, that's a number they can't afford to throw away. The Simpsons and Family Guy, the stalwarts of the station, have been struggling to break 3 million for a couple months now. Don't ask how their new…
Well, audience scores are definitely steadier, because a large sample tends to flatten things out. Hence, season 4 has some pretty crazy ratings because it has a smaller sample size of voters (I want to know why that's the only season no one rated).
The notary line gave me the hardest laugh of the evening. You're never going to find out if someone is a notary unless you need one. It's just not a question you ask people otherwise. Similar to Bob, I discovered I had a relative that was a notary public the moment I needed one, although I thankfully did not discover…
Both episodes are series-best, if you ask me, and both finish with uplifting endings. Agreed that Stand By Gene does a terrific job of getting everyone involved, more so than Glued.
The episodes are broadly aired in order of production code, but for a ton of different reasons wind up going out of order throughout the season (holidays are a big part of it). The 6th season has been comprised primarily of 5ASA production code episodes, but occasionally some 6ASA production episodes have slipped in,…
In honor of tonight being the finale and the premiere of the 100th episode (and because I'm way too into this show), I compiled and averaged the AV Club ratings for the seasons to date to see how 6 matches up to 2-5 (1 excluded due to lack of ratings).
Secret Admiral-er was an A-, to me. Very strong episode with some nice twists and plenty of quiet laughs.
When didn't Tina "try?" She tried very hard to get along with the horse and was able to make minor progress in riding it. She "blew off" the exhibition because they put Plops back in the stable just in time for her turn, which was another dick move on the part of the camp. Immediately before that, she had to walk back…
I'm as tired of hearing complaints about the family's fairly elastic money situation as others are of seeing it factor into so many episodes. At some point, you have to let it go. There are far too many instances of the family blowing money on useless expenditures to let every one of them bug you.
