30k is still very cheap for a prototype. Just the cost of tooling and SLA can go past that for a lot of products.

@espinha: No that was not a lie, it is just a very inefficient way to convert power. It also provides a horrible power factor and unless you include a good smoothing circuit, the ripple on the output voltage is bad.
@sudo rm -rf /: However all that power is provided in a form the engines can use. To convert it to something usable for 110V or 220V would add a lot of weight in power conditioning equipment. And I would much rather let the engines have the power than be able to charge my electronics on a long flight.
@Heilage: If everyone on the flight had decided to use the power sockets the juice would most likely have run out before you were half done your flight.
@RuBBa_cHiKiN: North Gizmodo is Best Gizmodo: My thought exactly.
The original Unreal game. It was a fantastic game for its era that I found very engaging and had a fun way to tell the story. There were also some incredible weapons in the game.

@RealmRPGer: I am interested at why Secret of Mana ended up on an under-rated list? From my experience everyone praises that game. The only problem is people tend to think of Zelda first and Secret of Mana second.

@tekdemon: Look at the video, he managed to land on his feet and clearly had very little if any personal contact with the truck.
@Saephon: You mean, you haven't seen her face before.
@doug.martin: Ah I see what you mean. It is very poorly worded.
@doug.martin: Actually the roofs don't have to be that big to get to 1 million square feet with 100 roofs. I figure if each roof is 100 ft x 100 ft you are at 1 million sq ft with 100 buildings. That would be very feasible with just apartment and office buildings.
@HowIsYourFlat: You would think I would remember that an Opera is a stage show before I think of it as a browser. Ah well, such is life.
@TailsNZ: It is Oprah, not Opera, Opera is a browser, Oprah is something completely different.
@madara: Yes they are great, but dropping a $15 walkie talkie in a stream isn't a big deal. Dropping an iPod Touch in a stream hurts a bit more.
@mjollnir11: I thought it was a LEGO model as well. Maybe LEGO models are getting too realistic when you think real life is LEGO.
@nman: I received a mini ratcheting screwdriver with 27 bits for Christmas a few years ago, it is a life saver for small spaces where some torque is still required. It was similar to this:
In certain areas of life you can save a lot of money by not being minimalist. For example, have a good toolbox and well set up shop, you have the ability to fix most things around the house that go wrong, or you have the ability to build your own bookcases, cabinets, other furniture without having to pay through the…
@Marand: So true, if there is only one right way to solve a programming problem the only possible solution is machine code. You don't see anyone writing an application in machine code anymore.
