Losing people to friendly fire is something the US is quite adept at. Should we judge it’s efficacy based on it?.

1) They won every battle AND won the war. A Vietnam parallel is laughable.

Last time I checked, the Russians crushed the Georgians quite soundly, tie eaters and all.

Mission accomplished. They put Georgia in check.

He’s right. For all intents and purposes, Syria is soverign, and their airspace is theirs to defend. Coalition aircraft have thus far transited Syrian airspace with tacit permission of the Assad regime, but should Bashir decide that Russians support is all he needs or wants (and who can blame him - he’s in a perilous

Well, absent a UN mandate to the contrary, yes they do have a right to fire on foreign jets flying about Syrian airspace if they’re acting at the behest of the Syrian government. It would be monumentally stupid, but they wouldn’t be breaking any laws.

By the way, what does it matter how many aircraft Russians lost? They have tons of those Su-25 from the Soviet reserves. Some of them will be updated to a recent standard, but many will be left to rot. So it’s not a big deal for Russians to lose 3-6 of them in a conflict. At the same time, people who criticise Russia

If you want to see an example of Russians struggling, that would be First Chechen war, Afghanistan perhaps, but not Georgia.

Just stop. Any reputable source will confirm that Russia decisively won that war, accompanied every single objective they set and captured a ton of enemy equipment. To say that “they got their ass handed to them” is objectively, not-open-to-interpretation idiotic, especially when paired with inference that a similar

“And if the Russians get their asses handed to them like they did in Georgia (the last time they deployed conventional forces)...”

Oh for crying out loud, here’s a dollar, go buy yourself a clue: do you know how much money Gazprom brings in for Russia in selling gas to Europe?

The West and other Gulf states are operating in Syrian sovereign airspace right now with neither a U.N. mandate or the permission of the official Syrian government. If Syria and Russia want to conduct air support operations for their ground offensives against the jihadist rebels — without fear of collisions or

Name all the counties they have proxied. If I were to name US proxies I would be here all day, god even small neutral Ireland is under the thumb of the US. I welcome the presence of Russia to balance the US the power of the US to destroy countries at will.If Assad falls there will be yet another terrorist state.
