+1 to this. Thumbs-up. Karma. Whatever you like- you get my point.

I would love to look into this, as I have a G1 sitting out on a dock constantly which is gaining dust.

I feel that in the case of myself and a few others who I've talked to, we were soured on reading from just elementary age.

So once the VPN software decodes the data from the host machine, it sends the decoded data to and from the ISP still? Maybe I have a misunderstanding but if that's not the case, and you can simply use OpenVPN your own server to encrypt all of your data and overcome deep packet inspection from ISP's prying eyes, lots

Really? I thought the connection between you and the ISP could not be encrypted by means of your computer by itself. This is how I have thought it to be, if it's wrong then I'll be happy:

I'm getting confused with Lifehacker's confounded comment system.

Can you define "done right"? I'd earnestly like to know if there is possibly a way that you can encrypt the data going through the ISP's end without sending it through a different, encrypted medium (third-party service like a VPN provider).

"Why pay someone else to do what you can do for yourself?"

Way ahead of you. Except I haven't bought, it's just that lots of people don't know how much stuff you can do with them so they leave them around and forget about them.

Hear, hear. I've been looking for a simple note app on Android which does the following:

I just picked up this guy's little brother, the E1000, for $15 from Craigslist. Going to see about DD-WRT and maybe Tomato on it. I'd like to have it for use in hotels like a few Lifehacker posts have mentioned. Plus, with Tomato/DD-WRT I'd love to be able to block ads and boost signal as well.

Any news on their IP logging policies?

Neat, I'll check it out— thanks!

I'm using Chimera, and I do select the Mountain Lion installer but it simply shows the Apple logo (which is the same logo that appears when I boot into my working Lion install) for two seconds then shuts down. I tried booting using "PCIRootUID=0" but still had the same issue happen. I seem to recall having the same

I'm trying to upgrade my Hackintosh from Lion to Mountain Lion. I bought and tried the AppStore app for upgrading, but it didn't work for me- keeps saying I need to reboot. I reboot and I have the same OSX version still. I tried using Tonymacx86's Unibeast to create a bootable Mountain Lion yesterday, but when I try

Was looking at the Flicknotes app... if/when it gets Dropbox sync and ability to save to SD card, I'll not only download the free version, but buy the paid version of this. Until then I'll stick with AK Notepad since it's been my go-to notepad app for years...

Hear, hear. I tried out Dolphin HD (again!) when LH recommended it recently, and it was incredibly slow (and locked up a bunch) compared to the snappy Opera Mobile on my G2.

There's no need to be condescending in your comments. While you bring up a valid issue, there are more polite ways of getting your point across. We're all buddies here :)
