Funny that the day I posted this, Lifehacker made a post about Firefox Aurora... I'm trying that out right now and, although it lacks features it does seem fast.

I've got an iPod Classic, 6th generation, 80GB. If it's not plugged in charging to a wall outlet, it says something like "Please charge battery" when I power it on. If I plug it into the wall and turn it on, it has a red X inside a circle.

I'd like to know how Whitson Gordon got those neat icons in Windows explorer. Theme...?

People who've used multiple browsers on Android, which do you prefer... Opera Mini, or Dolphin?

I agree. Was just going to post a topic griping about the same issue. That's one thing I appreciated about Lifehacker, was that I didn't need to link it to the rest of the world. Why can't I just use Lifehacker with its own isolated communication, must everything be linked to/posted at another social media site?

Would it be smart to have one partition visible, with a vanilla and basically unused Windows install, and another hidden partition which has your actual install and personal files on it?

I usually use locations set in the app Llama to do this.

One more question, to those of you who use Truecrypt- do you see a decrease in performance compared to before you used it?

Will this mess with multiple partitions or other bootloaders? Specifically, I'm worried about a computer that triple-boots Windows, OSX and Ubuntu via Chameleon...

To combat this invasion of privacy & battery life, I do a few things-

TOR has been quite slow when I've checked it out previously... I'll look up the thing about darknet though. Any specific recommendations?

How does the Lifehacker crowd feel about major ISPs snooping on your traffic to see if you are a pirate? According to the article below they will begin these and other measures around July 2012..

I tried this out just now and it worked great! I'm used to taking a knife to the orange's skin, then picking it off from there. This is one to show your friends.

Now playing

It's now Every-Day Carry time here at Lifehacker.

Question... do you tip for a "free birthday meal" at Denny's?

I go on instant messenger maybe once a week. Almost nobody is on. Facebook IM has killed off other IM clients for the most part, simply because you don't need to download a client for it, and all of your contacts are already on there.

Here's an innovative idea I shall coin henceforth.

I used to be religious about this, but I found it was too frustrating to keep up with updates. I'd have to find updates for the portable app, and then remove the current one & install the other in its place.

Somewhat related, is there a way to stop the default Android browser from saving your Google form data?

Good to know I'm not the only one who has it still then :)
