“When you’re Vice President, you can just grab em by their hardware and they can’t do nothing about it” - Leering Mike Pence

My father had a new ‘girlfriend’ 3 weeks after we buried my mother. They were married within a year. While I was happy he was not alone, it made grieving for me and my sibling impossible - my mother became a taboo subject - and I still resent him for that.

I wish her all the joy of life. I’m in my third year. What I’ve learned is that you can’t predict who will accept you and who will not. Friends I had for 20-30 years couldn’t accept it and they’re gone. Others who I barely knew, and almost all my neighbors, have been nothing short of wonderful.

Fuck. That’s uncanny.

I couldn’t do it and almost 11 years later still can’t. But I kinda hope it works out for Patton. What happened was beyond tragic so maybe a deserves to dream a little dream about happiness for now.

It’s very hard to maintain a relationship after the death of a parent. I lost many friends and relationships in my grief (some were my fault, some were not)

It’s actually super common for men who are widowed to get married again relatively quickly. Within two years of the spouse’s death, 61% of men have remarried/gotten into a serious relationship, while only 19% of women have remarried that fast.

Yeah - I hate to be that person but this seems really rushed (esp considering how young his daughter is). I believe they’re happy though and I hope it works out!

This story is like someone just cut up the last six months of headlines, put them in a hat, and pulled words out at random.

1. I thought Taylor was just Billie’s gay bestie?!? But, as atworkspoonandcherry has already noted, women date their fathers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yep. Force or no Force, she’s had a rough year. And now no mom to talk to about break-ups and boys. Sucks.

hahaha I think I once found it playing on Lifetime and watched some of it out of curiosity, knowing that they became an IRL couple out of it. I did not make it more than a half hour, but I assume it ends in some classic Nicholas Sparks way with a house fire and one of them dead.

I doubt it as well, I’m sure his boyfriend-for-hire career is quite lucrative - there’s always some other young starlet in need of a popularity boost.
To me, he’s still coasting on Twilight fame (which is fine, because the guy carried that movie on his broad shoulders - Bella and Edward were shit), but that’s because

Oh it was that godawful nicholas sparks movie, wasn’t it? At least they found each other out of it. For the rest of us:

Whoa @ Patton Oswalt getting engaged to basically his wife’s clone and also only about a year after her unthinkable death. Prediction: they’ll eventually break off the engagement. This just seems to not be a good thing to do a year after the love of your life dies.

Wow 69 years I didn’t know that part. That marriage must have been through everything imaginable. She deserves a headstone made of platinum... Or maybe vibranium.

I just want Billie Lourd to be happy.

In less happy news: condolences to Stan Lee as Joan Lee - voice actor, novelist, alleged inspiration for the Fantastic Four, and Stan’s wife of 69 years - died today at 93 after a stroke earlier this week.

1. I own a restaurant. While I don’t have kids, I have always allowed my staff to bring their kids to work. Their well-behaved kids. Sometimes even well-behaved kids get a little wild, and then their parent tells them to cool it and go play upstairs. Kids will be kids. But the ceremonial unveiling of the sphincter,
