To put things into perspective, that engine is throwing out more horsepower (but probably less torque) than the Continental R975 used to power the 66,800 lb Sherman tank. That GT-R is quite a ridiculous machine.

I have a lawn. It is watered by rain. I use a reel push-mower to trim it (cheaper than a gym membership for a good aerobic workout). What resources does it consume? If I put in gravel or other plants, the rain water would still go into the soil instead of running off into the street.

Torque is just a matter of gearing, so, my 1.8l 4-cyl can make a million lb-ft of torque at the wheels if I gear it that way, but it’s still not going to win any races.

The golden age of being a rock star is over. This isn't the first time it's happened to a particular profession and it won't be the last.

What a modern four-cylinder turbo engine does is force denser and colder air into that cylinder at a higher compression, yielding an explosion that's just as big but uses less fuel. That's a bit of a simplification, but you get the idea.
