To put things into perspective, that engine is throwing out more horsepower (but probably less torque) than the Continental R975 used to power the 66,800 lb Sherman tank. That GT-R is quite a ridiculous machine.

He is a hardline conservative on most issues who is certainly more in favor of boots-on-the-ground interventionism than the mainstream, but he’s not a “shut down the government” guy, nor is he a bigot or a cretin. Yes, he holds Republican party line positions on every issue, and no, I don’t agree with any of them. But

Sure, but I get three good Batman movies (First Burton, First and Second Nolan); two ok ones (second Burton, third Nolan), and then a lot of shit.

It’s cray to think that 15-20 years ago, this probably would have been funny to a lot of people, and the announcers might have even joked about it.

I have a lawn. It is watered by rain. I use a reel push-mower to trim it (cheaper than a gym membership for a good aerobic workout). What resources does it consume? If I put in gravel or other plants, the rain water would still go into the soil instead of running off into the street.

Just a little correction, chlorine does not breakdown into bromate, it speeds up the oxidation of bromine.

Jesus! If the car wasn't there to stop him, would he have just flown right off the mountain?

Man, it sure would be nice if you could buy direct from the factory at that factory pricing, rather than having to negotiate a higher price from a middle man who really ends up doing nothing for you other than trying to sell you rust proofing and paint protection packages.

The car that does the most work in the least amount of time wins. That’s the definition of power, so, no, torque doesn’t win drag races, power does. Torque is just a matter of gearing, so, my 1.8l 4-cyl can make a million lb-ft of torque at the wheels if I gear it that way, but it’s still not going to win any races.

You do realize that Zeiss lenses of this calibre cost a lot anyways, since they are actually pretty well made?

"it would mean that all alien civilizations would have to find space too big to bother with, or that interstellar space travel is technologically unfeasible. Neither is likely true."

Due to gerrymandering, Iceland and Beverly Hills are now in same voting district

This does not bode well for the Horsepower Kingdom. The Court of the Horsepower Kings must be nervous.

It sucks, but recording artists are going to have to get used to the fact that the world has changed, and their chosen profession just doesn't pay as well as it used to. The golden age of being a rock star is over. This isn't the first time it's happened to a particular profession and it won't be the last.

Wouldn't it be the track surface and the grip of the tire that does that?

It's a monitor, not a stripper...

Actually, the declining sales should rove to them that a change is needed. How easy would it be for them to slap a turbo on and sell a ton? The problem, it seems to me, is that everyone knows there has to be a better one coming eventually, and no one wants to pull the trigger now and be left with the underpowered

He prefers external combustion

What a modern four-cylinder turbo engine does is force denser and colder air into that cylinder at a higher compression, yielding an explosion that's just as big but uses less fuel. That's a bit of a simplification, but you get the idea.
