Obligatory John-Oliver-Did-It-Better example:
I know, right? Noah’s humor goes between being really awkward and completely pissing me off. I officially decided he was horrible when he said that he would like to visit Chicago, but he didn’t want to die. John Stewart wasn’t a desk jockey like this fool. He was engaged.
Yep, the true inheritor of Stewart’s crown is Samantha Bee’s incisive Full Frontal. I can’t even remember the last time I watched a clip of The Daily Show, much less a full episode.
He is emphatically unfunny and while I also doubt he wrote this tweet it’s in line with his particular brand of bad comedy.
Even though Trevor Noah probably didn’t have anything to do with the tweet, this post still reminds me of how downhill the show has gone since John Stewart left. It’s cringe inducing.
Let’s hope this doesn’t happen in November with Bernie supporters (I’m one of them) voting for Jill Stein as a protest candidate.
Sympathy isn’t a zero sum game. I think it’s possible to feel bad for his victims, hope they have gotten help and also acknowledge that he was subjected to a bunch of really personality warping stuff.
Both Hillary and Bernie would have protected women’s reproductive rights, so it wasn’t really something they needed to debate in the primary. The few times it came up, the argument was about whether or not Bernie would prioritize it as high as Hillary would, but there wasn’t any daylight between them on the issue…
Well two important things happen at the federal level:
I’m glad reproductive rights are becoming an issue that the Democrats are owning again. It’s weird that this started in the general rather than the primary, but still good.
So I don’t know where else to share this, but this tweet, from the liberal filmmaker daughter of the Constitution Party candidate, may be one of the saddest things I’ve ever read, and also explains a lot about why the relative volume of Sanders’s supporters didn’t match up with the votes in the end.
Needs a few more rounds in the workshop.
Granted I usually live under a rock and am actively trying to avoid a lot of the election coverage (b/c it’s more a circus than honest journalism), but these alleged “feminists” saying we need to elect Hillary b/c she’s a woman - I could swear this is mostly a strawwoman cooked up by Bernie and the RNC or trolls just…
If you give a shit about keeping religoin out of politics or a woman’s right to choose, then you vote for the Democrat. ANY Republican getting SCOTUS picks isn’t an option. It’s time to grow the fuck up.
Her speech, with its references to Seneca Falls and all the history that came before, was in perfect tune.
I’m waiting for someone else to say Yay, Hillary! so that they can shoulder the brunt of the anger and conspiracy theories.
Ohhhhh, so many millennials are going to regret their tattoos.
