I got a Nintendo Switch last weekend. Have you guys heard about this game called Zelda: the Breath of the Wild? I just started that up, it might take me all weekend to finish. (I previously put many hours into it on the Wii U, but it was a borrowed disc and I never finished it.)

Seriously. Beyond ridiculous. 

It’s not gid gud though, it’s doing a little work to understand how to play the game. If you’re not willing to do that then what’s the point? If you want a simple game you don’t have to learn how to be more efficient in combat with then play a game that provides that, there’s plenty of them.

This a thousand times. The tutorials are so well written, concise, and quick to go through. Even as a veteran I check them the first time I use a weapon.

If you actually follow the tutorial path in the village, it sends you directly to the training area and explains what it’s for. It provides you one of each weapon up front and when you equip one, the commands and combos are on screen.

I mean no. For most of us, it is exciting, especially as you mess around with different weapons and abilities.

A health bar would immediately turn an exhilarating fight against a giant monster into a tedium as you watch a health pool slowly erode. You’d focus on the bar, not the monster.

Some people aren’t able/willing to put time into learning. MHW was my first foray into the franchise, but practice and learning are huge.  I can’t imagine trying to play a MH game without going through a tutorial as a new player.

I’m sorry but this kinda reads like “This game sucks because I tried jumping into difficult content without even playing the tutorials without having ever played a game in the series before”
