@hardly_working: Looks interesting. Ideally I'd like to avoid anything requiring installation (hence why Linux would be great) but if the above Ubuntu suggestion fails I will give this a shot. If I were using HFS on a day to day basis, this would be invaluable. All I really need is a quick dump of the data so I can

@ericesque: Thanks for the info. I hadn't bothered (too lazy) to check for support last time I tried reading an HFS drive. Will give it a shot this weekend.

The need for a Mac (or even a Hackintosh) is really disappointing. At some point I would love to set up a Hackintosh (If I can't get an Intel mac mini off of CL) but for now I just want to get files off of my old HFS-formatted external drives. From pictures to ISO/DVD backups (Yes, backups I created from my discs)

I have to admit, MS is winning me over more and more lately.

I had all but forgotten about the "new improvements" coming to this network, to the point that I thought it was some bad dream. Oh how I wish that were true.

@McMike: Backlit keyboard? I had this funny idea that a writer in this day and age would be able to touch-type.

@shkm: I have young kids. Mounting things to the wall these days is done to keep it from being tipped over, not for aesthetic purposes. Most wall-mounted ideas seem horrifying to me right now, unless it is a good five feet off the ground.

This is great. I can have two pinned tabs in Chrome, one for each inbox. Probably was possible before, but this made it trivial. Duplicate tab, change number to +1.

@Populoner: Was thinking the same thing. That house you posted, or one like it, was the first thing that came to mind in terms of "doing it wrong." Until seeing the alternative, I didn't know that it could be done right.

@monkeybusiness: The number is irrelevant. If you think you have enough cats for this, you are a crazy cat person.

This is great. Gizmodo has the best intel by way of a suspicious lack of intel.

Has anyone used this with Windows Server 2008 R2? I'm tempted to buy it just for Windows 7 use, but would love to know if it has any issues with the server OS.

Far more interested in the Server version of Windows 8 running on ARM. Still, this should be interesting.

Here's hoping this becomes redundant in a future Chrome release. Seeing my randomly organized wall of apps just makes the app part of Chrome / ChromeOS feel rushed and unpolished.

@AlfLup: Was thinking the same thing when I saw the picture.

Yet another argument for why memorization of facts in High School and prior isn't helping anyone.

First thought I had was "I want that desk."

Codename for new system?

I don't mind (much) when my game of Pirates <3 Daisies crashes on the Cr-48 I received. I can just start over, and it is just a game.

A gift card can be a great gift. Example: Starbucks gift card.
