This is very much about the WEC, not the car. I wasn’t aware of fun being poked at the BMW M8 in WEC, if it was a miserable performer there that’s on the WEC as well.

As a WEC fan it’s sad that a manufacturer is bailing out.  More cars makes more interesting racing.  But equally, it was a hideous looking, underperforming, unloved BMW.  Now I’m not sure how I feel.

Not well

I bet you I can touch the steering wheel of my car without adding any torque. Guaranteed.

If the system isn’t good enough that you’d let an unlicensed vehicle passenger operate the vehicle, it probably shouldn’t be available to everyone.

I’m sure they’ll say the same next time too

Shouldnt “autonomous” vehicles not have the ability to be set to auto pilot and go in excess of the posted speed limit? If safety IS your top concern (as Tesla positions “autopilot” to be significantly safer than a human driver) then what is so safe about travelling 68mph on a 55mph road?

Tesla Autopilot is concerning about this as it’s a basic shortcoming of their AEB algorithm.

Driver was also traveling 13 mph over the speed limit. Speeding and a dangerous turn on a rural highway; that’s just a bad situation.

According to today’s Morning Shift 56% of people are ready to die on the roads in exactly the same manner.

when used properly by an attentive driver who is prepared to take control at all times, drivers supported by Autopilot are safer than those operating without assistance.

Tesla’s PR department is terrible. Throwing in the whole “10 times less likely to catch fire than a gas car” bs stat makes them look defensive and incompetent. Did they normalize for vehicles sold? Did they only count cases of spontaneous combustion? Did they only compare this to gas cars of similar age and price

The JDPower initial quality survey will be updated with a new questions, brought to you by the fossil fuel lobby:

How many Tesla cultists have lined up outside your house yelling short already?

This was a thing?

That’s such a misleading statement. That takes into account old cars which are far more likely to catch fire. Also, when a gasoline car catches on fire, it’s usually a slow burn in the engine bay that is easily escapable. In a Tesla, it goes from 0-100 pretty quickly and can be much more dangerous. I’d like to see how

Huh! So all those conspiracies about this being staged by the Chinese just because they hate daddy musk were completely unfounded.

These days if you were in a clean MKIV you could say to people “More than you can afford, pal. Supra”

Please find a way to drag race it against an F355 Spider.
