$500k is pretty clearly the “not really for sale” price. The dealer even said to Road & Track that they would “probably” refuse the sale even if someone were to offer the full $500k asking price. I don’t think they’re in much danger of anyone testing that theory, but they’d be stupid not to take it if offered.

In other words, it’s not for sale.

I thought it was a Ferrari that was more than I can afford?

If you can’t finish a 1 minute article, why should I trust you with my next Christmas list?

Cue the “I know what I have meme”.

BMW decided “reliability is a Toyota thing” and flashed it for less life.

True, but the competition is much better than the previous generation. F-Type, GT350, ZL1, Stingray are all in the same price range and the 718 and M4 are just above it. Each offers either more power, better luxury or costs less. The Supra better be GREAT to drive.

They aren’t, they are NOT saying that Toyota is better than BMW.

A new, well-optioned version of this Supra is a pretty screaming deal compared to the previous generation (as new), factoring in inflation.

They should have painted one like the F&F one...then I found this while googling...not sure what to think now..

I could sort of see BMW fans making fun of the Z4, saying it’s “just a Toyota,” in the way the Saab 9-2X was a Subaru Impreza, or how a Jaguar X-Type was basically a Ford Mondeo.

“We look at, how does the car work together,” some random aftermarket tuner said. “What is the chassis balance, what is the powertrain for that, and where we landed on that—900hp 2Jz swap provides us with the best combination of vehicle power and acceleration to the weight and chassis.”

It’s actually pretty reasonably priced; cheaper than I thought it would be.

I’m going with, “BMW decided we can’t have the same power as the Z4, so they reflashed the ECU and handed us the package.”

Makers of rear and mid-engine cars don’t seem to have a problem...

I dont think they know what to do with not having a grille to break up the front end

But is there some rule saying they all have to look like they’re crouching and squinting?

Let’s not forget that every iteration of the Supra has been wildly different in execution than the last. It started out as a lengthened Celica, became a smoothed-out high-end GT, and is now a 2-seater fastback using BMW hardware. There is no definitive Supra formula beyond the basic concept of a RWD I6 specialty car,

This is poetry.

Bad take: isn’t this your fault, too? You wanted a Supra, badly. You wanted the ultimate Toyota tuner-sports car, the follow-up to the revered JZA80. You wanted something that can equal it, maybe even surpass it. You wanted the 2JZ engine. You bugged them for god knows how long. You saw all the SUpra builds. You got
