It was only a few years ago that the BMW 3 series, Audi A4 & Mercedes C-class fared quite poorly in the small overlap crash test. Everyone seem to step up a notch, which is nice to know despite the fancy tech like auto-braking, lane assist & backup cross-traffic sensors, knowing the passive safety in case of an

If the Delorean was the dream car since he was 6, I would have snatched up the Extinguisher from Rite-Aid REGARDLESS of the cashier’s resistance to save my precious car from being utterly destroyed.

Build all the charging stations you want, but until DC rapid chargers become standardized (Chademo, CCS or Tesla), we are NOT moving forward. Imagine you have gas stations who nozzles ONLY WORKS on one brand while another with other brands. This is NOT how you convince people to migrate to EVs.

Tesla can’t sustain itself for long making loose prototypes like the Semi truck, Roadster mk2 or a Pickup truck if they aren’t ACTUAL model you can sell within 6 months. Add to that the ferocious rate of cash burn trying to get the loaded Model 3 out the door (without them having severe defects or electric glitches),

It kind of works. Probably because Cadillac today puts some really angular lines on their vehicles & the sweeping motion adds to the flair.

I actually like the front end. The rear section with the entire middle bumper seems to be incomplete; it bothers me what a minor fender bender would cost.

This made me start laughing like an idiot in the middle of the library. COTD indeed.

Good idea. I should do it when he isn’t looking next year perhaps.

I’ve been there, done that mentality. I’m frankly at the “just waiting for him to end up in a ditch or snowbank” (hopefully without hurting himself) before I try again.

Big cars like 3row SUV & trucks have significantly larger margins than small compact vehicles. No wonder automakers are only way too happy to sell you an Edge over a Fusion.

What is the % chance that someone at Ford who orders parts THINKS the Mustang EB & Focus RS shared head gaskets and when the latter got backlogged, instead of halting the assembly line he simply ordered the former instead...and told NOBODY about it until RS started to out Subaru the EJ257?

My father is one of those “All seasons + AWD + slow/careful driving” is ok for Toronto winters. I lost count of the amount of times I argued (almost fought) with him on the winter tire debacle; it if wasn’t for mother, it would have been worse. Even cousin & family tried, but the same excuses in no particular order:

Well you have a front-mounted driver dash - that already makes it better than the Model 3. However I’m not convinced that would be safe unless the steering wheel/front screen folds up/down to deploy airbags.

*slow clap*

If the purchase decision on a car was factored mainly around reliability, they would have brought a Toyota or Lexus, the top two brands that score highest by far on that front. However once you take driving feel, technology & brand cache into account, you buy a BMW or Audi instead. So yes, luxury car buyers are more

Yes, but the 40kWh Leaf still is a mid-range category car which sits between the Long Range Model 3 & Bolt and the Short Range Focus EV, Ioniq EV & the e-Golf.

I think the Zoe could be sold in North America rebadged as a Nissan (Micra EV perhaps?). However it would have limited appeal even with its 41kWh pack, given it only has 88hp which would make it rather uncomfortable in North America where we call cars with <110hp underpowered.

0-60 times & sports car handling sell to the conspicuous consumption crowd who likes bragging about their meals on Twitter, orders only Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks and waits in line every year for the next IPhone at the local Apple store.

His point is the Leaf is not targeted towards people of his demand. It is like asking whether a Corolla buyer would be interested in a F-150.

The Leaf now plays the underdog to the EV race. The Bolt & Model 3 (especially the latter) loves headlines, but the Leaf has the honor for being the best selling EV worldwide (yes that includes the vaunted Model S).
