“People were having breakdowns in this room. People were out of control of their bodies,” says Barlowe. “There were accounts of really deep trauma and pain, everything from outright racism to micro-aggressions to discrimination and also feelings of invisibility. And the administrators were not emotional at all, which

Grats!

I know there are plenty of others who are at least conscious of the effects of the game, but for every one of us, there are 50 more that are blissfully unaware.

Wow. How terrifying and stuff.

Why is it that we can’t seem to get more than one or two NFL articles in a row at Deadspin without a heaping helping of absurdly overbearing sanctimony regarding concussions yet articles like this exist without any annoying handwringing at all over the same?

So your desperation to self-preserve is short term.

I was referring to your coworkers’ ‘gaslighting’ and handwaving away your claimed experiences, not to any discriminatory behavior you experienced.

Can you blame anyone for this behavior? It’s your problem, not theirs. I’d probably do the same thing, because at the end of the day I’m not willing to risk anything with respect to my job for what ultimately is somebody else’s issue.

Beat me to it.

‘Terrible’? Uh, okay.

Numerous groups of white students had pizza delivered to their tent.

That music. Just... lol.

Yay! Let’s all pat ourselves on the back about how much better HOOOOMAN BEEEEENGS we are than Lance Berkman. Grats, all - it’s a high bar to clear.

Ugh. Give me a fucking break - I don’t see how punching a cabbie says anything about Kane’s ‘willingness’ to rape someone.

I don’t find it ‘disgusting’ that the media, who you seemed to be tarring in your initial comment, interviewed that bar owner. The crap that individual had to say may be disgusting, but I don’t know how you blame the media for that.

the amount of victim-blaming apparently being texted towards WSCR this morning is sickening

His comment is essentially saying “See, all you commenters who thought Kane was guilty, you’re wrong.” I’m pointing out that, “no, we’re not wrong, because the fact that the accuser is not pursuing the matter is a far cry from proving Kane’s innocence.”

That reasoning is too circular for my taste. The primary reason many of these guys aren’t considered ‘good guys’ is because of the sexual assault/rape accusation in their past.

It strikes me as profoundly fucked up that after all of this the accuser still walks away with the protection of anonymity while Kane now gets to be known as a rapist in the minds of a great many idiots who think that because ‘omg false accusations almost never happen’ that having a specific rape allegation made

the disgusting way she was treated in the media from the get go.
