Kate Bush, "Cloudbusting"
Nico, "I'll Keep it with Mine"

Happy to read Todd's inclusion of "Night Still Comes."

What's funny about that, though, is that Kicking and Screaming has pretty terrific musical cues - Blondie and Jimmie Dale Gilmore come to mind off the top of my head (for that matter, I'm grateful to the movie for getting me into Jimmie Dale Gilmore). But none of those musical cues date the movie in any specific way.

"And you know who else has a weight problem?…*Me.*"

I would probably say the most underrated, yes. Although I do have a soft spot for The Ten.

"Got my eye on you, Daredevil."

I still have never seen it, I'm sorry to say. BUT! I have a copy on hold from the local library, and will hopefully be checking it out within the week. It was a funny coincidence that this article mentioned Amadeus; I decided the place that library hold after catching up with The Dissolve's Animal House discussion - I

I really enjoyed this list's breakdown of the High Fidelity scene. It's hard to think of other movies that more effectively portray the way emotionally-stunted pop-culture junkies try to relate to other humans.

You're not wrong about the parent thing. Ian Holm does quite a lot with a role that probably didn't amount to much on the page.

Aw, c'mon, I felt like there was a decent level of snark leveled towards Garden State in that description.

I'm certainly eager to see it when it hits wide release. Out of curiosity, how would you say it rates against Silver Linings Playbook?

I remember seeing An Education soon after I watched Happy-Go-Lucky. It was one of those odd, fortuitous evenings where I found myself the lone person in the movie theater (it didn't hurt that it was a late-night screening on a weeknight).

"mm and-up win"? I'm either dense or just slow tonight. Not sure what that means. Could be the wine.

I would love to see Hawkins get some attention for Blue Jasmine come awards time. Blanchett is such a powerhouse in the movie that it's almost easy to forget how good Hawkins is as well.

Eesh. I almost posted a snarky rebuttal, but that probably wouldn't accomplish much. One of the reasons I love coming to the AV Club is our ability to discuss a myriad of topics with no small amount of intelligence, passion, and humor.

I could see him doing a good job as Larry Underwood, in all seriousness.

It really is terrific. I sat down to watch it a year or so ago, thinking, "Oh, Herzog and Kinski went and did a Nosferatu. This will be fun," and proceeded to bite my nails for two hours.

I would say his self-titled album, and third album overall, "Townes Van Zandt" - it was released in 1969, it doesn't suffer from the overproduction that marred his first two albums, and it has, for my money, a very effective spread between heartbreaking, slit-your-wrist bleakness ("Waiting Around to Die") and

You're referring the new Doris Kearns Goodwin book, right? That's definitely on my list as well. Where exactly was that discussed here? I'd love to check out the comments.

So many lines from that movie effortlessly make their way into my life.
