Who wants to see Hardigree popping out of a Cayman frunk? This is the real magic of yoga.
Or he could have waited until 2016 to avoid all the federal crap. California, however... just ugh.
Hey Ballaban, Jack Baruth just posted a great, in depth answer to your question over on ttac - http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/04/no-fix…
This is the only comment thread that is correct on this issue.
Notice how the dealer always kind of laughs when you tell them you're going to sell privately? They know that even with their horrendous offer, you'll still net out better with them after taxes are accounted for.
The conclusion is misleading. What your dealer SHOULD have said was that when you trade in your car instead of selling it privately, you are only on the hook for tax in the amount of the difference in value between your trade and the new car. Whereas if you sell it yourself, you’ll have to pay full SALES TAX on the…
And this right here is the big problem. Can we all see the elephant in the room?
Answer #1: You can. Buy a Porsche. (famous for their variety and customization options)
Great insights into what is often a skewed commentary on the issue. Recently I conducted dealer training for an OEM that classified Gen Y as 1981-2000 birth years. The predictive numbers about Gen-Y buying cars that we quoted were impressive, but mostly due to the massive number of people in the generation. This…
This guy. I'd read this guy.
84% want to see their car in person? Of course. It's the most expensive thing most millenials will have bought at that point in their life. That doesn't mean they want an incompetent salesman or "Business Manager" pitching them wheel protection and 3M clear bra for an entire day. They just want a clean showroom, full…
Hi Johan, do you remember when you fired up the red R8 V10 late one evening leaving the Herndon office parking garage and berated someone you had never met before for driving a Nissan Z while working at Volkswagen?
This, more than anything else, is the problem. I started at VWoA in 2009 and left in 2013. In that time I met 3 CEOs, 2 CMO's plus an interim one, saw 2 heads of sales get booted when numbers weren't up to snuff. Wash, rinse, repeat.
That's gonna be a real beach to get out of...
Yep according to the US dealer info it does indeed. Kind of funny that no one really knows until the first cars arrive!
Pretty much. But the Golf R could still be an exception. New US spec Golfs including GTI are rolled off the Puebla, MX assembly line and all have a mechanical handbrake lever. However the MK7 Golf R will be produced in Wolfsburg alongside the European cars (which have electronic brake) so it's quite possible it will…
The most recent TT-RS was never supposed to become a permanent part of the TT family. It was a limited production car, with only 1000 or so destined for the US. The business logic is different for a car like this and the RS3... with such small volumes forecast, if they can bring it here without losing money, or…
There is also no reason to have 100+ dealerships selling the same brand in a given state. People in general don't buy cars that often. If someone wanted to buy a new Tesla and the only place they could do it was 2 or 3 hours away, that's not some insurmountable distance to purchase the 2nd most expensive item people…
