I was under the impression that school busses went to air for the same reason semis did... safety. Air leaks are inconvienient, but unlike hydraulic leaks, do not result in immediate loss of braking control.

interesting. I have a friend who started a schoolie build, and the bus she bought originally had air brakes, but was converted to hydraulic after what I’m guessing was a compressor failure due to a front end collision.

Quick question, but why did the bus not have air brakes?
