While the tires would help, locking differentials and 4wd would help more.

In every automatic I’ve ever driven.  Usually when approaching a hill.  Darn thing thinks it wants to be in overdrive, but can’t see what’s in front of it.  The remedy?  Shift out of overdrive manually.

A manual transmission does not shift when the operator doesn’t want it to.
