Thats 200 titles to figure out at the secretary of state AND you have to have insurance on a car in Michigan in order to get a plate.

Hey David,

When I worked in a dealer I only saw one 4L60 in a pickup give up its ghost, and it had 260,000 miles on it.

If you want to save money, I’d look at a early/mid 2000's Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon. They can tow 7-8,000 lbs, the 5.3L gets pretty good mileage and the whole drivetrain is relatively bulletproof. (I used to see 5.3/4L60's in the dealership with 300,000+ miles on them still going strong.)

I didn’t think the Ram 1500 5.9 was available with the NV3500 from the factory? I thought you could only get the 5.9 in the HD truck with the NV4500.

Very nice. I’d be interested in hearing how the NV3500 holds up to the 5.9!

Did you do a 5-speed swap to a R/T or a 5.9 swap to a truck with a 5.2?

I wish I had 1/10th of the talent these guys have!

I don’t know if it actually running or not. I know on older Dodge Daytona’s that once you shut the car off the tachometer would still be showing 1000ish rpm.

My father retired from Chrysler after 30 years. I have always rooted for them, even during the Daimler and Fiat days. My wife drives a ‘14 Charger R/T and I drive a ‘16 Ram. We both love our vehicles (and we both purchased the lifetime warranties, so we’re covered for quite some time).

If you’re looking at the Kaw, you should also probably check out the Triumph Trophy. It’s on my list for the wife and I when we get older and want more creature comforts.

Regarding seating position, how tall are you? I’m 6'0 and I fit my Vintage perfectly. On long rides I need to change positions sometimes, but thats nothing a set of toe-rests or highway pegs can’t cure. Maybe try a Chief with a driver back rest?

Love my Chief Vintage!

I imagine. After all, his father loved the car more than his son.

Reliability is a tough call. Both the 5.0L and LT1 are pretty bullet proof. The LT1 has that awful optispark ignition system though...

That’s what I was getting at. The LT1 is more difficult to work on based on the portion of it hiding under the cowl.

Also, the 5.0L will be a lot more enjoyable to wrench on than the LT1.

Historically Ford’s MT82 6-speed transmission has been weaker than the Tremec unit GM uses in the Camaro.

The new Chief’s and the Scout are fantastic bikes! I bought a Chief Vintage because I wanted something a little different than the run-of-the-mill Heritage Softtail.
