So.. pedro, looks like I'm going to get my Liger afterall huh?

I think this is more of a proof of concept, not deploying hundreds of helium craft (the leakage alone would make it in-efficient). I'm sure eventually someone will come up with a helium-less airflow design that makes it more like a kite that's easily adjusted with it's tether, that just happens to be holding a giant

People people, let's look at the bright side here and remember our history. The last celebrity that drove a silver sports car died in it (James dean's 550 silver porsche spyder), with a chrome finish he's bound to kill himself, then we can all say "silly bieber, fiskers aren't for kids!"

thank you for reporting this gizmodo, people quickly forget how terrible this story was because there's no webcam up, the oil is "sort of" gone, but the public has no idea the effect of the cleanup has had. I really worry about our future, we are messing this planet up so badly with stupid stupid mistakes over money.

to quote danny glover in lethal weapon 2 "nailed em both!"

while I agree, making the invention process easier has the potential for some crappy ideas that wouldn't have made it to market in the first place (whoever makes the shiniest looking object wins, even if there's no design innovation). However, it funds more than stupid useless trinkets. I funded a pinball film last

450 mile square dead zone, I assume they mean sq mileage, which would be something like 22 mile radius from the plant.

I've seen parametric speakers used at the checkout counter at a grocery store. It was playing the audio from the LCD monitor playing ads. It really is sorta freaky how it beams the audio to your ears in a pretty finite beam. Is it the sound tinny? a little, like a tweeter speaker (not soup can), but it's great for

I couldn't justify a $25k pricetag, but comparing this to a mustang? It has a lower center of gravity than a GT-R, and only .6" higher than an LFA. You can't just compare horsepower, if that were true you'd say a lotus is just a toyota celica, I mean it's the same engine right? nothing else is different.

and yet, we're supposed to hitch a ride to the space station with them? no wonder why their space program died

I don't like sheen, but this sure beats the weak j-lo commercial. "I'm jenny from the block, but I refuse to actually physically return to my roots. where's my green screen?!"

Most lithium-ion batteries on smaller devices typically have an internal shut-off (gets down to a certain voltage, cuts itself off from being used to prevent damage). Wondering if that's not possible with a battery this size?

any link to the actual ebay auction? I would love to see the feedback on that transaction

Look up "luxeon LED", it's an overpowered diode mounted directly to a copper layer that pulls 700mah (about 40 times that of a normal LED), hence why it generates so much heat. I still don't understand it myself, how does a light that generates heat be efficient?

all these media companies are with-holding to try to push dvd sales. Consumer doesn't care, goes ahead and waits the 30-60 days because there's plenty of other media out there to consume (1,000 tv channels, youtube). Media companies eventually start losing revenue because consumers stop caring about movies. I

The 2012 honda accord.. bow bow.. ohh yea..

Umm.. apparently you've never seen 3d printed metal objects.. Or a diecasting (pour metal into mold, out comes part). This only applies to billet machined objects (like mac laptops) which is very expensive because of the labor involved.

I guess Pitball needs to get a new catch phrase?

well, perhaps if someone threw their hat in the ring.. or sacrificed one of their feet, we'd all be flying around in cars by now [www.youtube.com]

just... wow. He does realize we've been buying products from japan for about 50 years now. Most of our products come from china (with the exception of cars), and 3,000 lives were lost on 9/11 from terrorists living in arab nations. I think the japanese is the least of our worries right now. What's next, he starts
