We got Fingered twice today!?!?! wait that came out wrong...

Nope, just the libtards’ one.

It’s always been bigger in areas with lots of Italian-Americans, maybe a sort of Italian Pride day? Growing up in Portland where we didn’t have much of an Italian community we were barely conscious of it and never had it off as a holiday. I know banks are open on Monday in California, but the courts are closed.

A small number of Italian-Americans have parades and schools used to do some stuff for it, but really, it’s just what a British person would call a bank holiday for most people.

It originally started among the Italian communities as a pro-italian/catholic festivity when perhaps they were not consider so welcome here. So maybe it still has some meaning for those communities, maybe a parade in NY or something. Otherwise, no.

No. It’s just a long weekend. I typically forget about it until articles about Columbus being an asshole start popping up and then I’m like “awesome, three-day weekend.” And at least in my city, there’s never any kind of celebration or events that go on.

I hate to be pedantic, but as an American Indian, I despise the term “indigenous person.” I am a Mescalero Apache, raised on the reservation, and I look like what central casting would send over if a director needed an “indian.” Most American Indians prefer to be identified primarily by their tribe, but recognize that

Pretty much all American holidays are an excuse to eat unhealthy food, get drunk and watch sports.

A question from someone who lives in the UK: do most communities in the US celebrate Columbus on Columbus Day? I think I was always under the impression that it was basically an excuse for a long weekend where you could lie on the couch for 72 hours with one hand in a doritos bag and your other hand down your pants.

Bexar County is San Antonio in case people were wondering. You know...the 7th largest city in the US.

Now playing

No firearms are allowed to be used? Chechnya is one step ahead of the United States then.

you could have stopped at “representative from NY” and i would have gotten the picture

He’s a rather corrupt Democratic representative from NY.

The Speaker of the House? That’s what I call my wife!

Gawker literally outed a private citizen for clicks. Their reasoning is, “if we don’t post the pictures the readers will look them up somewhere else.” It’s disgusting but we should know better than to expect better of Gawker media sites.

I’m really curious to find out why the gawker site has kept the graphic screenshots of this on their website all day, and people have been complaining about it all day without any response from Gawker staff, while Jezebel does (what I personally feel is the) correct thing and chooses not to post the pictures at all.

Ariana Grande?

I mean it’s always Harvey Weinstein, isn’t it? And I wouldn’t assume that
Ashley Judd means males when she says actors, she may not like to say actress.
