This article is pretty strange to read on Jezebel, honestly. The tone, the weird framing (the statement that the report just repeats allegations that the Democrats made during the campaign- What??), but particularly the underlying completely dishonest statement that the intelligence agencies have provided no evidence.

Well said. There’s really no excuse for someone who has decided to write an article on this not to have done some basic background work. I enjoy this site but things like this definitely help tip the scales towards “blog” rather than “journalism.” This piece in particular is bumping dangerously up against the fake

The use of the “but they were wrong about the WMDs!” argument might be the scariest thing about this whole issue for me. The very people who insisted that it was unamerican to question the invasion of Iraq are now using that invasion (based, as you said, on partisan manipulation of classified intelligence) to

The intel community being wrong about Iraq WMDs is going to be the new McDonalds hot coffee lawsuit thing isn’t it? By which I mean it’s a shibboleth that identifies the invoker as someone who knows absolutely nothing about what they’re talking about.

THANK YOU. This article is outrageous and should be retracted. Completely misleading.

You’re a gullible tool, prove me wrong.

For all you know Russia doesn’t exist at all.

Absolutely. They don’t disclose all their evidence because that evidence is highly classified. If their sources were public knowledge, it wouldn’t really be covert intelligence, would it?

Those are not equally likely because you are a know-nothing with your fingers in your ears and eyes closed shut.

Great response to an absolute shit pile of an article from Hannah. I’m embarrassed for her.

I literally just told you the reason to not present evidence is that high value assets would be exposed and their lives in danger. You can believe whatever you want but if you truly believe the FBI, CIA, and NSA got together and spun a huge lie well, maybe they are dumping the chemtrails over my house too.

Hannah, I’m disappointed in the clickbait title. Claiming these agencies “did not present evidence” is not merely misleading but untrue. You are spreading same sort of misinformation that drives clicks for conspiracy bloggers and Fox News.

Wow. This is a total garbage article. Jezebel really needs to rethink its political reporting- really, really not good. Let’s look at the NYTimes. Oh look. Literally the second bullet point front page main points of the article without even clicking on the article itself:

There are many reasons to not present much of the evidence. Much of it can be surmised by what level of confidence each agency gave it. NSA can only give moderate confidence because of the way NSA gathers its evidence. The FBI and CIA almost certainly have human assets at high reaches of the government and their lives

Guesswork is part of intelligence work, always has been. This reminds me of the folks that hoot and yell about evolution only being a “theory”. Reading the cyber attack tea leaves is not the same as making a judgement to go to war over nonexistent WMD’s, that’s a straw man right there.

They think women lie to mask thier sluttiness and in some small way encouraged it. It’s a view shared by many law enforcement officials.

The kind of men who are attracted to police work usually are precisely those who have no business being cops.

Keep in mind that this is a cop saying it, and that—based on rank and hence age—he probably lives in the Poconos or in one of those way-out parts of Suffolk County. (Think Copland.)

No see, men who rape women they know aren’t raping them. It’s not rape if you know the women, duh. /s

Come on ladies it’s not that hard! Just remember the scales:
