This is why people are annoyed. It’d be different if it was GOG which also doesn’t have some of these features but GOG is DRM free and Epic’s launcher is only DRM with no other benefits.

That’s not entirely true, MDs held a lot of music given their size and sported a vastly better battery life with just 1AA battery than the far more expensive ipod.

I loved my MD player, everyone gave me weird looks sporting often far more expensive MP3 players or an ipod or whatever.

Disc has nearly always been better for gaming was vastly better back then instead of a 3MB or 4MBof data you could have 650MB of data expanding everything from visuals, to music, etc.

First online service would be linked to the intellevision which had downloadable games, which found little success given it’s cost, SEGA then in the 90's well before the N64 put out the SEGA Channel offering you monlthy fee based service that let you play any game from a list of 30 games that changed every month-…

I think you have that backward, from everything I read the Switch Pro controller is the one that needs modification to have a serviceable dpad. Down to there’s tutorials showing how to do it with tape or even stickers.

I have an old 8bit do controller, the FC30 I think. It’s quite impressive in terms of it’s super slim and has all the buttons you need to operate a PC/360 controller based game as well as most of the switch’s functionality (no motion controls or NFC)

Nintendo, a company with an abusive history with developers who wrote them into exclusivity contracts or they don’t to make games at all. Nintendo the company that was brought to court over price fixing.

Fair enough, I’d say the only trouble with that is many artist like myself don’t have the financial or means to get physical items created so you’ll miss out on a bunch of stuff.

I don’t think these things work in handheld mode much either, it looks really uncomfortable.

Way better off getting the 8bit do versions of Nintendo’s controllers since they’re just as good build quality wise and you can use them with any game. Not just a handful of NES games.
