Not entirely true. I tweeted a comment thread under that piece at one of the editors by a disabled woman who cried all day after reading in, because maxi dresses were one of the few cute clothing options that help her hide or minimize her disability. And at least one expressed remorse.

I completely agree. The banhammer needs to be reserved for the people it was designed for - abusive language, rape gifs, harassment, threatening behavior, etc. You bring up a good point about The Post and its fallout.
There was a time when excessive commenting (*ahem, wouldn’t know ANYTHING about that) combined with a certain chumminess with the writing staff was viewed as posturing for job. Those allegations have diminished since Burt and Pinkham and Kat have left.
