Burton left after the film came out. He refused to work on Batman and Robin due to conflicts with WB and how fast they were pushing that film. It was a 2 years turnaround. Since Burton was producing Batman Forever his money got the final say so. After that, WB handled it with Shumacher, and we saw what happened. Hell

Burton left after the film came out. It’s why he’s still credited as producer on Batman Forever. The studio already had Batman and Robin in the works, it was 2 year turnaround. They pushed it hard on Shumacher. It’s in the special features of the DVDs from back in ‘07 which are on the Blu-Ray releases if you want to

Fair enough with the crystal aspect of it. I was referring to the creation in general, but fair point.

He was supposed to be the Joker, not the Riddler. When Tim Burton stayed on to help produce the film WB wanted to bring the Joker back, and he said no. It’s why he left the series after that.

Clooney as Bruce Wayne is great though! Swarmey, charismatic and that chin!

They can use that angle. However, the use of the Iron Legion brings up another issue I had with the film. If the Legion was already there and an active crowd-control/policing service all run by JARVIS (who was shown as a far superior AI) then why Ultron at all? But I digress.

I agree on Cap. That was handled exceedingly well. Cap is set up well. Tony isn’t. Remember IM2? The whole films was about the government wanting Stark’s suit and weapons. He refused to give it to them till Rhodes stole a suit. So Stark isn’t a fan of government involvement and control either. He supports

That’s the issue though. DC and Marvel all have different areas to pull from. DC can claim their films are Elseworlds and it be okay. Marvel can cross dimensions and what not while copying DC’s model.

We’ll see. I just trust the Russo Brothers quite a bit after they managed to tell Secret War and Secret Invasion in one film and disguise it as a 70’s spy thriller film. That was deftly handled. What I’m thinking is that the fall-out from Hulk’s rampage causes the government to crack down on who these heroes are and

lol sorry. The ire wasn’t directed at you personally. I just see Whedon’s name in regard to anything and I bristle. I really don’t like that guy, for a lot of reasons.

Actually going back and watching Winter Soldier and such they’re handling the set-up well. Basically in the comics, Mutants and “enchanced” heroes accidentally cause the death of several hundred innocents. So the US government declares that they need to be registered in order to keep track of what they can do, where

Okay, actually her TK is shown every time she “blasts” an Ultron bot. Or uses it to shield people in a bubble. That’s her TK. The thing is, her powers in the comics were based on chaos magic and mathematical equations. She is literally the strongest character in the Marvel universe based on power and ability alone. I

Actually he’s spot on. hate aside in some places. Because this film rejects, altered and ignored pretty much every comic book plot that give it the characters needed for it to work. There is very little in this film that connects back to the actual source material in any meaningful way.

Actually, Whedon ejected comic book lore for this film. On all fronts. The twins in the film were more like Strucker’s actual Twin children collectively known as Fenris. They share powers, and have to be connected at all times to be useful, much like Wanda and Pietro in this film. They even created a splinter cell

That’s where I have an issue. That’s not what causes the splinter in Civil War. Or at least, not what should cause it. The fact is that Tony at the end of the film isn’t a villain. They brought it up and then deflated it. Because her and Cap are grabbing arms and joking with THOR at the end. They’re buds again. He

Yup. The biggest one is this. Tony already had a “suit of armor around the world.” The Iron Legion. It in turn was commanded and utilized by JARVIS, who is then shown to be a better AI then Ultron by locking Ultron out of networks throughout the film and protecting the world anyway. Which mean literally the entire

Except, the fans aren’t serviced. The characters on screen aren’t the ones I grew up reading. And before anyone says “but they change origins, characters, stories so much in the comics it’s okay...” no. If that were the case, DC would be free of all negative feedback on that front about rebooting/altering characters.

Marvel Cinematic Universe? If that’s the question then Storm doesn’t count. She is Fox’s corner and not at Marvel proper. She also was horribly underutilized for like, a decade? Even in DofP she doesn’t even speak.

No. Scarlet Witch’s power is the ability to distort time space and dimensions based on calculations of what events she is manipulating. She is literally the most powerful character in the Marvel universe and is the source of why the Mutants were decimated in the mainline books. Wanda is amazingly powerful.

At least she would have been included! Think about it. THOR gets so bogged down that he has to run to a woman to save him. That would have been great. Instead we get a cameo by the guy that nearly destroyed the world (mind control or not) in one film, and then he gets elevated to being a full-fledged member of the new
