@Kryptolojik: High resolution and pixel art aren't mutually exclusive. A game that is 1920x1080 resolution is "HD" whether it is 3d renderings or 2d sprites. Hi-res pixel art is wonderful in my opinion.

You're right, of course; Looking at the hardware and technical specifications when describing games, and their classifications/history, is the more superficial way of looking at things—and certainly the way one who doesn't live and breathe video games would describe them.
