in a world where gentleness is perceived as a weakness we need a reminder that it can be manly. let’s be honest, mr rogers was our nice dad, the other dad put food on our plate and a roof over our heads. mr rogers taught us humanity. at 72 I still remember mr rogers, buffalo bill and all the rest of the ‘nice’ folk...

Agreed, I came here to say something similar. Even if he doesn’t quite look or sounds quite “right”, Hanks just kind of embodies a very similar spirit as Rogers. And honestly I thought some of his “looks” in the trailer really got Rogers dead on, so I think it’ll be more about the subtleties.

I don’t care if he doesn’t disappear into the role.  There’s no one I’d rather have playing Mr. Rogers.  Tom Hanks is one of those actors about whom I have no doubt there are no Me Too stories.  And Mr. Rogers reminds me of all the times I spent watching him (and I Love Lucy and Bewitched) with my beloved grandmother

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that he was studying to enter the priesthood. I think he saw that organized religion has a place with everyone and he wanted to share the best parts of it without hitting anyone over the head with theology.

Love one another. Treat people with respect. Be kind. Treat animals like

My 4 year old came and hugged me as I watched this. And all I could say to her was that it’d made me sad because I missed him. He was a light of positivity and love that we sorely need right now.

At least she sounds like she’s going to be a generous and benevolent oligarch. I, for one, welcome our most kind and benevolent Overlady Bezo.

Someone somewhere wrote a really interesting piece about how me in horror movies ignoring their female companions is a great reflection of reality. It went into detail about how even IF the women in these movies were mistaken/delusional/whatever it shows the men as a kind of monster who ignores the obvious distress of

The thing that just irrationally upsets me about this movie is that it should have came out on June 24th.

This is like if Independence Day had originally released on July 11th or something.

Don’t name a move after a day if you’re not going to release it on that day.

God damn marketers.

Good luck! You in 6 months:

A chopped kale caesar salad. Joe Biden, whole, roasted.

I’ll eat the kale caesar salad gladly while eying that breakfast for lunch option.

I get most of the authors here are young and come at things from a different perspective, but please don’t discount us “olds” who saw this show in real time and really wished something like it existed much earlier. Had I seen this type of show when I was 14 (1982) my life might be much different now.

I’ve no idea which Democrat I’m going to vote for. But my nearly 70 year old Republican father stunned me with this comment, “I really like Mayor Pete.”

The thing I enjoy about Stewart in this entire situation is that I have no doubt he’s genuine. His jokes about McConnell looking like a turtle may seem like going for the easy joke, but you can tell he has seething contempt for him. The only other time I saw him visibly despise someone in this way was when he roasted

I feel like his balls would smell like sweaty feet and his feet would smell like sweaty balls.

There’s an episode of Black Mirror about this.

JE SUIS THAT BITCH

I went to the prom in 1994 and 1995. I have tried on these dresses. I have been in these stores. My 1994 dress was red, strapless, to the floor with a slit. Sequined across the top. My homecoming dress from winter 1995 was going to be like the Black and White Jessica McClintock, but another friend wanted that dress,

All we wore were doc martens, man. We couldn’t handle a heel any higher!

The best way to win your decade is to keep it simple. Look at Posh Spice or Lisa Luder.
