Some people learn the easy way, some learn the hard way.
I agree 8% is high. But it probably is affected by the default rate. I really believe there needs to be some education on the loan process and what the student is agreeing to pay. What the expected salary range is and what the expected payments will be after graduation - or worse, drop out.
