I think this “high belt line” on so many cars is a key reason* why SUVs & X-overs have taken over (at least in the US market). The high belt line that is totally out of proportion when a within average height range human sits inside, they can barely see out.

this is great tks Torch, 1st thought on the Sab was that it had to be some 80s Fiat based (other market (other than Western Europe) car

not necessarily against it, though 1st reaction... “looks like a coffin with windows”

Given that nearly everyone (in ‘Merica outside NY) drives a car & since cyclists (in general) are uncommon, doubly so for those interested in unique bikes, I’m genuinely curious just how many recumbent cyclists, uni cyclists and antique bike riding cyclists you’ve met which has lead you to your conceptions above?

Heating/cooling buildings accounts for >50% of all air pollution on average mostly due to electricity sourced from burning fossil fuels (largely oil & coal); though France does have a higher than average use of nuclear power generation than a lot of 1st

Freddy you corrected the bit about the Cougar, not (yet) the bit about the Buick

well the FIA at the time said they banned the tire foam (mousse) b/c of cost savings reasons, but replaced it with TPM system instead.

good article (link). Makes me wonder if any tire manufacturer has thought about making the WRC tire flat foam on production cars? And if not, where could I get some, clearly only for offroad use, as I’m sure it would have to be DOT certified to be strictly legal?

oh totally agree that 4x4 (especially with locking front, center and rear differentials) will Always give better traction potential (tires being equal) than just a mechanical (or electronic based) limited slip differential.
